It turns out that none of the keys had been used, so that was pretty good.

However, neither giftlink worked. And this is strange cause I normally don't use giftlinks and I couldn't find any giveaways I created with those giftlinks. I even checked my email to see if I had sent it to friends; nope. I also checked the giveaways I created for both those games to see if there were keys in there that were not in my Excel file but again; nope. So it's a bit of a mystery why those aren't working but c'est la vie, I guess.

In better news; all winners were quick to accept and thank and the two 'winners' of the non-working giftlinks were good sports.

And finally; I did find a giftlink for SpaceChem in my emails and a reply from the friend I sent it to saying that he didn't think it was his kind of game. According to HumbleBundle it has been used but I can't find a giveaway I created for it. Likely I gave it away on a now defunct site but since there is a tiny chance this link might work, comment below and I will add one (un)lucky person to Steam so they can tell me if it works or not.

Original Post

So I had HumbleBundle tell me what unused Steam keys I had... Thing is, a number of the ones it claimed were unused were set as used in my Excel document. I am just not sure who of us is right.

Hopefully for you HumbleBundle is right. :)

So I created giveaways for these games cause it would be a shame if they work but don't get used.

Please only enter if you are ok with me requesting the giveaways to be deleted should the key not work.

The below table links to the giveaways. If you have Sighery's RaChart™ Enhancer installed it will show you which ones you already own.

Many thanks to Sighery for improving his tool; I was able to create the table by just feeding the tool a list of game names. Next time I hope to have time to check out the API and find an even better way to create the chart.

Have you ever given away a used key by mistake?

The humble used key page is not to be trusted most of the time. The "unused" game will tell you what bundle it was in. I find it safer to pull up the bundle and double check as the bundle page has never been wrong for me.

I did go to the bundle pages and in all cases I had to click a button to expose the key; hence my thinking that these keys might actually work.

Have I seen similar thread made by you or it was somebody else?
Anyway - be prepared for people calling you out and/or sending you private messages with their requests (for working key) if one of the keys will turn out to be already used. Sadly - most of people won't even bother with reading your topic or ga description :/

I did do some large scale giveaways where only two or three keys were suspect but fortunately they all turned out to be ok.

I've seen other people do these kinds of things as well; turns out many people have keys they aren't quite sure of. lol

I gave away a couple used keys that I previously gave away on steamgifts and forgot to mark as used. One, the winner was really nice and told me to just delete the giveaway before I even explained what happened. I ended up giving him a few keys for some games that he wanted that I had laying around from previous bundles that had since been given away for free so I couldn't create giveaways with them.

The second, I explained to the winner what happened and told him I would try and get a replacement. I believe he also told me to just delete the giveaway, but I put out a bunch of trade requests in steamtrades and was able to trade for a replacement key in less than a day.

I have had the same happen to me as well and just allowed the giveaway to be deleted, not a big deal, we all make mistakes.

Thanks for the giveaways! I only experienced the opposite situation, i.e. I might have a few unused keys sitting around on a bundle site. However, I might have checked a few of them as used because I did not realise I already had them on my account. So some of them might still be unused, I just have no clue, which...

3rd - Learned something new already this morning. I was not aware of that page. I've always just looked at the keys per package.

Haven't read anything you wrote and will dispute any "Delete Giveaway" request from you instantly, Mr. Nukem.

Sincerely

I actually have old keys from a humble bundle back in 2012 that I didn't use. (I think I downloaded their drm free versions)

Would they still be valid?
