Hello guys and girls!

Another event from Puzzlemania group has ended. Here I would like to make some concluding remarks.

Thank you all!

First, I would like to thank you all of you who particiapted in my puzzle! I had a lot of fun seeing people trying to make some progress, returning for hints, posting questions and feedback, saying thank you after completion. I hope you had that much fun as well!

Second, during this event, more than one hundred people joined Puzzlemania group! I appreciate it a lot and this gives me additional motivation to make puzzles. Thank you!

Treat #1

I whitelist people who are the quickest to solve my puzzles when the amount of hints is still minimum. After this event, there are in total 22 steamgifters in my whitelist and this giveaway is only for them! Good job!

Treat #2

If you did not join Puzzlemania group yet, you can do it right now! Why bother? Because I created a members only giveaway, which is a very nice little game. I spent quite many hours in it and enjoyed the game really a lot.

Solution

As promised, I post the full solution of the puzzle.

1. You needed to notice that the image is uploaded to Imgur service. As you know, removing the image extension (.gif in this case) in the URL, will bring you to Imgur page where you can see metadata of the image, e.g. its description. If you did not know this trick, you could learn it from zelgh's guide.

2. Following the link you found in the description, you can view how the star explodes. In fact, it is the only valuable thing for you in this video. Now you know that in the puzzle you need to explode stars (also known as asterisk symbols).

3. You could now think of how to explode stars and solve the puzzle using a trial and error method, but you could also remember the rules of Bomberman game: when a bomb explodes, everything is destroyed vertically and horizontally (but not diagonally!) until a wall is reached. Applying the same principle to the puzzle, we get the result as shown in the image attached to this post.

4. Now, the only thing left is to scrabble remaining letters into a word. Doing this leads you to the solution: MOSQUITO
