unfortunately, there aren't really any other options than the ones you described (short of buying a new headset since i know someone will reply saying that).
I guess you could try a temporary solution (similar to rubber bands) where you glue the insulation of the wiring together in the spot which causes it to work (in other words, bend it in the position where it works then glue it so it stays in the position), but it would only serve to cause further damage to the wiring in the long run....

yea i think i found where the wire not connected correctly and that happen to be inside the right headphone since when i move that around the sound fix it self as long as i put presser on it at a certain angle so i am going to and see if i can find if i can some how fix that by opening it up or just have something like a stick keep it at that angleand if not look like my cheap sony headphone just got it job back

So for what ever reason my headphone decided not to work right any more today like i will hear some sound like if i am listening to music i will pretty much hear every thing but the voice and some other interment\sounds. i found out if i bend the wire a certain way i can get it to work but i cant just get a rubber band to hold. so i though why not just solder it but i am kind of worry since it has a mic which i dont want to damage and i would like it if i didnt have to slice the wire that are already connected any way i can do this. the headphone i am using is the steelseries 3h so if any one can help me in how i can get it to work since i use it
