It`s kind of hard to me to see him as Geralt, but I don't see why not, he is quite good actor. The only thing that bothers me, as a fan of books, is a plot. CDPR nailed story with good care to the source material, in my opinion atleast, but will Netflix? We`ll see

Mortensen is almost sixty years old, he's unfit for the role, and even in his younger days, he's no weakling, but he never had the body to play a mutant with inhuman strength such as Geralt, still one of my favorite actors though, just not for this role.

Why not, a good actor can be anyone, look at James Franco, he was a great Tommy Wiseau even though he does not look like him at all.

He's played through the games and read the books, just to throw that out there.
I'm not the greatest fan of Cavill, but he could easily be transformed to look the part as Geralt with enough aesthetics and make-up. So, age isn't a problem in my eyes. He's not a bad actor by any stretch of the imagination and he's a PC gamer. I'd much rather have an actor whose passionate about the series than one whose never touched the books/games before. So, let's not panic just yet. That's just my two cents.

the funniest thing is to check people crying about this. some of them didn't even play witcher games, or they just rushed throught the 3rd game.

Why not somebody with the same face structure? There´s a reason why Cavill was Superman and It´s because he looks like a good boy. Geralt instead looks like a mean mofo.
Leraie option above looks pretty much like him. Man, If I had to chose between popular actors I would go with Guy Pearce but at this point he is kinda old for that.
