What does "subscribeing" do for a Discussion Thread here?

So, on the discussions, there is a way of "unsubscribing" from channels (well, technically "categories").

What exactly does that do? Just wondering! And, on the inverse, what does subscribeing do, and how do you do it on a specific discussion? Do you have to subscribe to that Category as well? how does it work?

Unsubscribing just hides the threads posted in that category from appearing in your subscribed tab, and vice versa for subscribing. For a specific disscussion you can use the blue bookmark button in the top right to bookmark it which will place it in the bookmarked tab.
