Mixed feelings about that, do we have sale figures on that title?
It obviously didn't sell as well as it maybe should have, or was expected to.
Anyway, more people will give it a shot, some might like it.
I wonder if i'll get to see some cheater that weekend, they don't really seem to exist anymore.
I've seen one in all my time with the game, disappointing.. guess most people are happy about it though.. :D

I'm assuming it didn't sell very well, if they had put more work into making it, it might have.
Not saying that it's a bad thing, but it basically looks like Counter Strike: Source with new skins, textures and possibly a few other features...
Nevertheless, I'll give it a try. Since I don't have CSS, I might even buy it.

Yeah I've noticed that it has been hanging around the top 15 or so but still less than Valve's other top games. It may have sold "well" but just not to their expectations.

There were cheaters when the game was in beta and there still enough of them. VAC just got updated twice in the last few days and always banned many people. Even in high level gaming there are cheater, "Gerrah" just got banned for example. I'd say there are just more cheater with leggit settings than cheaters with rage settings.
@topic: i don't think this will change much for csgo. Most people on Steam who are interested already bought it, i mean it's only 14€. A retail version would be much better, because then more casual gamers would buy it.

It's ranked 13th which isn't amazing, but I wouldn't say it's not selling.

So how do we download it right away without even owning it? :o

Wait for the free weekend to start and it should appear in your library.

The game flopped, just like the beta. Which is why they're having a free weekend 2 months after release. CS 1.6 is still the most played CS. If they just started listening to the community instead of being completely stubborn on certain things. Instead they will try futilely with a free weekend.

I played some gun games and oh boy was that easy. I'm not even that good at the game..

Not sure what exactly about it seems so good to you, I'm trying it out during the free-weekend, and to be honest it's not that much different from Source, yes the graphics are improved more than I expected, but that's pretty much it. Since I've played CS 1.6 quite a lot, I would even say it's not as good as 1.6, from what I understand they tried to bring back the classical game of Counter-Strike, instead they've messed up some features that people liked. Not to mention removing mp5, usp, silencer on M4A1.
Overall, I'd say they have made it more noob-friendly, radar now shows where enemies are if they make a sound or if you see them (which I don't like at all), it shows where the C4 has been planted if you have "seen" it, so if you can't find it just run around a plant and radar will help you, same goes for plant spots and hostages. They've significantly decreased the learning curve, hell there's hardly any learning - just get in a match and shoot. Also, there aren't really official bots in CS 1.6, so I'm not sure if this is true, but the bots in CS:GO are ridicilously noobish, I played with normal ones at first, thought they'd be challanging, well I was wrong, same goes for Hard ones, didn't bother trying Expert, just went on an online match instead.
Sorry for super long reply, just my thoughts about it so far.

In particular I enjoy the interface and the new maps/modes. Even the guns are really cool in my opinion. There was something about the weapons in CSS that I didn't like :S
I think that the learning curve is still quite steep though. CS:GO plays very differently from Battlefield or COD, games which I'm used to. It took me a little while to understand how each of the guns work and what the best strategies are.

So according to this, Counter Strike: Global Offensive is going to be the next Free-Weekend game, to honour the first major tournament, ESWC 2012, featuring CS:GO:
"In case that confuses you – here are the details. This weekend? CS:GO is free. Download it. Play it. Love it. It’s free. Who knows, we might even put it on sale if you want to keep playing after this weekend."
For those too lazy to check the link, it's supposed to start on Thursday (today) 10am PST, which is 6pm GMT and will end on Sunday 1pm PST, which is 9pm GMT. If I'm correct, that's slightly over 3 days of free CS:GO.
