I have been noticing this for more than a few weeks.

I just tried it once and it didn't load, so I was about to comment same but then I decided to check again and the second time it loaded in 0.2188 seconds. Weird.

I'm having the same problem and it occured just recently. Used to be pretty fast.

I don't care about giveaways that are months old and already over. An option to only see active live giveaways should speed things up a lot.

It's been doing that for a while. Looks as if cg coded it such that the list is not kept up to date at all times, only when it's requested, and then it's kept in cache for a while (subsequent calls are quite fast). Keeping lists like these up to date for 100k+ users is a major resource hog unless you have a very well designed and advanced app architecture, and doing them on request is an acceptable trade off, IMHO.
