For the past week or so, I have been completely enthralled by a certain 3DS title: Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. It's made me want to go back and play all the previous games in both series, particularly Professor Layton's, since I already own all the Phoenix Wright games.

This crossover title has been absolutely fantastic, and is my new favorite title on the 3DS. I am only about 10 hours in, but have been through SO much. I've laughed, I've smiled, I've cheered, and I've cried. Numerous times. I was on break at work last night surrounded by co-workers in the break room when I got to a particular part in the story that made me cheer so much that they all looked at me funny xD

The characters are extremely well-developed, likeable, and draw you in completely. Throw in an amazing story full of heart-wrenching twists and you've got the recipe for a winner.

Have you played any of the Professor Layton or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney games before?

I've tried both series before, and really don't like them. I'll stick to 999, Ghost Trick and Theresia for my overly talkative adventures.

They are AMAZING games but they don't have anything to do with this talk and they are DS games not 3DS xD

They are adventure games. Also, Ghost Trick is from the same devs as Phoenix Wright, with a crossover being desired. Lastly, the 3DS is capable of playing DS games anyway. :P

Also, 999 has a sequel on 3DS, but I didn't like that one.

I know but if i had to say my favourite DS game would be The World Ends With You, followed by 999^^ Strange that you didn't enjoyed Virtue Last Reward since is a good sequel. I played on Vita so maybe felt more fresh there than on DS.

ghost trick was very cool and unique puzzle game that plays with time and item possession. too bad not a lot of games try to inovate like that.

Where's the 'no' option?

Overplay of those games rots your brain to the point that you don't realize not everyone plays those games.

Perhaps I should have left out the poll entirely.
I realize some games are not everyone''s cup of tea, so I assumed those people would simply ignore the thread. Guess I was wrong.

Secondly, this is the first game of either series I've really ever played, although I own the Phoenix Wright Trilogy 3DS release and the Miles Edgeworth DS title. I do not have any of the Professor Layton titles either, nor have I played them. So 12 hours is hardly "overplayed".

Also, wow Delta...seeing a side of you I wasn't expecting and didn't think you had. You've always been friendly whilst being a bit blunt, but I did not expect a comment like that.

I was just filling in some poll logistics. If you ask "Have you ever played X, Y, or Z?" then it would make sense to have an answer simply being "No."

Also can you even edit polls? I've never actually tried.

I'm kidding. Damn it, I don't hate you.

Although I do wonder about another friend of mine...

Had the thread title included the games people not interested in them may have ignored it. Since your title was generic though they had to click through to find out what you was chatting. As they are then here they might as well answer the poll.

Both, Phoenix Wright is an awesooooome char but the Layton games are my favourites. Hundreds of hours in DS for sure also thanks to those puzzle that were always coming out long after the game launch :)

I have played both series as well as the crossover, which I absolutely adored. Be sure to play the free DLC episodes (there is actually a lot of them) after you finish, they are absolutely wonderful.
Though, 999 (and Virtue's Last Reward) and Ghost Trick are also favorites of mine.

I have heard about Theresia and it seems like my cup of tea. It didn't officially come out where I live, but it is available as an US-Import. Bless the non-region-restriction of the DS...this saved me a lot of grief. :D

Well, thanks for the recommendation but I'm not going to spend 180/100€ (Nintendo eShop/Retail) on the games. :|

46 for me but that's not the point, it seemed to me judging by your description that it's somewhat better if not necessary to play the previous ones.

Must be regional pricing, but so far I think playing the previous games just gives you a bit more insight into the character''s personalities. Although this crossover does a great job of showing you what they're all about.
