Depends on a player. I am not scared with horror movies/things like that.

It's a good game, but you won't shit your pants. It's just a game.

It's better to wait a couple of weeks for the summer sale ;)

Honestly I do not scared me, the games that really scared me was Resident Evil and Silent HIll, Outlast is a good game the thing that bothered me that the developers did not support 32-bit systems -.-, so if you have a 32-bit system you have to do a procedure very boring to play.

Not one crash. I installed my os and it is 32b as I have only 3Gb RAM, so I gain nothing substantially from a 64b Os. (steam version of Outlast)
Maybe it is recommended 64b Os but the only aaa game that requires a 64b os that i know of is cod ghosts.

All of a sudden everyone is not affected by scary games. Yay, good for you.
Yeah, Outlast is a good game, it has great atmosphere. It's pretty disturbing at times, gory and maybe not "scary" per se but you feel like you are literally hunted because all you can do is run and hide from the enemies.

It's a nice game and it is scary, but after a while you get used to it and it probably won't be as scary as before. There are still some shock moments, though, and you always feel hunted and in danger. The graphics are quite good, same for the story in my opinion. I also like the many "collectibles", i.e. journals about the story and if you don't search in every room, you won't find them all. Its DLC Whistleblower is really nice and it's longer than I expected it to be. The story (of the DLC) starts before the happenings in the original game, but is parallel with them later and finally it ends after the end of the original story. You'll also see people and even several events from the main story in the DLC again. If you've got Outlast and you liked it, Whistleblower is a must have in my opinion.
Remember the upcoming Steam Summer Sale to catch it when it's off. :)

I've played both Outlast and Whistleblower and I definitely recommend them for any horror game fan, sure, the game can get repetitive and this is no Amnesia but it sure as hell does its job well. In terms of scares, it's got a few jumpscares every now and then, a few are predictable, but that's the nature of jumpscares. What really makes Outlast a good horror games is its psychological horror, the things that are implied rather than directly shown, and even things it shows you can be pretty disturbing. Remember scary and creepy are two different things and both are important to a horror game.

The game has a creepy atmosphere and the scares are definitely there. Mostly, your scares will come from not wanting to go into a certain room more so than a certain person. The game is fun but there is one MAJOR flaw: there is only one repetitive way to escape an enemy. The main character can't fight and is forced to hide and/or run from every enemy. It is boring to say the least.
