It can more easily be interpreted as being intended as a contrast of extremism, such as "we couldn't care less if you stubbed your toe or if you're on fire". The intent wouldn't be to relate the two matters as being comparable to one another, but to indicate that even a more extreme statement of similar theme [in this case, the topic being sexual preference] would still be similarly of little interest and/or appropriateness as the statement in question.

I'm in no way supporting the statement that was made (which was unnecessary and a bit crass), I'm just pointing out that your interpretation is likely inaccurate to the intent [which appears to be "This is a gaming site, thus one's sexual preference (no matter how unusual or ill-perceived) shouldn't have any bearing on one's usage of the site"]. Also, it's best not to dredge up drama in a thread a month after the fact (in the sense that at that point such complaints should be directed toward site management if necessary, rather than adding unnecessary additional non-gaming drama to a gaming forum that already generates enough of such drama on a regular basis). As such, perhaps the person you should consider making a complaint to is the individual who offered such a meaningful necroing of this thread, just above your own comment.
