I've been wanted to ask this for a while now. Pick the one that's closest to the majority of your give aways. No need to reply if you haven't given away anything.

I just wanted to represent all the options without judgement. The thing I like about these polls is it's anonymous so there is no reason to lie.

Well, people are going to vote for it as a joke now. You'd be surprised how many people lie, even if it's anonymous.

I never lie, am anonymous even in real life and I met a politician who told the truth

Replying to myself because I edit too many posts.

Big mix. I buy every single bundle these days so get lots of spares, and have done quite a lot of the Happy Hour things on Indie Gala for 5 bundles. I'm always scanning the official resellers and Steam for games on sale and (rarely) when they're not on sale. At one time in the past I was eagerly active on Tremor and got a few that way but not anymore.

Traded for games for myself but not giveaways as I've always worried about keys not working/gifts being revoked. Won't touch the gray market.

Got plenty of bundle keys left and by the time I've given them all way then they'll make the majority of my giveaways in terms of raw numbers, but I think my CV will always mostly be made up non bundled bought form steam and those official resellers.

I didn't think about those. Are there actual keygenerators that work? I'd assume they would got revoked if there are indeed keygenerators that work.

I doubt there are. I guess someone can make a program that just brute forces every possibilty until something rolls out...

It's practically impossible to get a working key at random.
There are 221.073.919.720.733.357.899.776 combinations for a key (36^15) or 2,2x10^23 (basically 1/3 of Avogadro's constant).
Now, we have 18376 regular games + softwares + free games on Steam.
Let's say planet Earth reaches 10 billion PCs and 50.000 games on Steam, a terrific amount of both PCs and Games.
Let's say every PC needs a copy of every game on Steam and you can only have steam keys, no longer gifts.
That makes it 50.000.000.000.000, fifty-thousand billion keys. It's 5x10^13.

We would still have 221.073.919.670.733.357.899.776 combinations of keys not working. Not even 99,99999997% of the keys would be gone.
This means you WOULD have less than 0,00000003% chances to have a working key generating one at random.
Since we are talking about an ideal situation, considering you can only fail to redeem keys 10 by 10, chances to actually have a working key generator are very very abysmal.

My giveaways came from a variety of sources - but always legitimate ones. Some games I bought directly on Steam, and either gave away immediately or bought them in a sale, held onto them for a while, then gave them away. Others, I had a spare copy in a 3- or 4-pack. Others were unwanted or duplicate bundle games.

Just about the only thing I don't touch is the grey market - sites like HRK or G2A are just that little bit too untrustworthy for me. That and regifting. Even if it wasn't against the rules, it's just terrible manners to regift. :)

Bundle games that I already own, or that don't interest me, for now.
Had I known of Steam Gifts earlier, I would've given away many games that don't really have a place in my library...

I voted "Bundled games that don't interest me" but I will also buy entire bundles for giveaways with a decent CV, so if it were multiple choice:

  1. Bundled games that don't interest me
  2. (Cheap) bundles (giving away the entire bundle)

Tremorgames is certainly my main source of crappy bundled games. I worked my ass off on stupid tasks and also had a good referral so I managed to acquire a small pile of coins which I now occasionally spend on games to giveaway.

Other than that, I sometimes stop being so fucking cheap and buy a game from the Steam sales to giveaway. I also end up with games in my inventory and elsewhere, never quite sure where they came from...

I got most of mine from Tremor Games as well. The site is kind of a hassle at times, there are so many scam offers. Being unemployed I can't really afford to spend money on games for other people at the moment. I think it's a decent solution to give something back if you have limited funds, but I was contemplating buying some games on sale from Steam or official resellers to give away.

It feels worse when you're employed but still can't afford to buy games. :(

Where is option for scamming? ;D

I honestly didn't think about that, it should have been an option. The though of scamming one person to give it away to someone else amuses me to no end however, so thanks for that thought :D

For almost a year now I'm just buying random decent-looking or high CV/USD bundles to give them away in their entirety. Sometimes I keep a few games for myself though.
