I was a scientist before, and in Germany you make more money as a teacher than in science.

There are a couple of schools with Dutch classes along the german side of the border. As far as I know, they always look for people teaching Dutch.

I never really liked the Dutch language. Im thinking about either History or English. Im sure that there are lots of places you could work if you can teach others English.

There are good and bad teachers, no correlation if they've worked another job before.

Yes it is when you want to have family and support and feed those kids xD

Family is made by two people so he is not going to work for all of them? If he/she is a single parent then things get complicated and yes then money really are important.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Are you THAT sure every family has two working parents?
Nevertheless, sadly, yes. We do live in a capitalistic septic pool owned by money-grabbing leeches.

If I need to cover every family situation that will take so time. What I meant was if he get enough for him(for his familly), the money will not be the top priority. And he/she could focus on enjoying the work.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like everyone to just be able to do whatever they love to do, it's just that it is highly impossible in today's world.
But, as you may know, today's world FORCES you to make money your highest priority...

I'm from Eastern EU and even 2 parents are working (which here is not easy to have), they still barely have money to pay for the expenses for their kid (and we have no scholarship). If only 1 parent is working, it's rocket science to survive the month without getting into debt.

I am happy school started. Finally all the teens will stop shouting in drunken stupor on the street at 2 AM every night, and the public transports run a sane schedule where I don't have to wait 10-15 minutes for a tram coming home from work.

True to that. One of the more usefull things of school. Busses go every 15 minutes instead of 30 xD

Ugh, I don't even wanna think about it. Hasn't started for me yet, but it should in the next couple of weeks. It wouldn't be that bad normally, but it's my final year and I'm so not in the mood for super important exams.

Same here. Because of medical reasons i have to do some tests from the year before it as well. Still, just one more year right? (if everything goes right)

Damn, we had a classmate in a similar situation, couldn't come to school for about half a year, but he managed to pass in the end. Good luck with that by the way!
Just one more year, but finding a job and a place or going to college is what stresses me out because I really don't want to go to college and I can't find a good job here unless I move to some bigger city.

Good luck to you too. And dont even start about it :'( In about 7 months you must have decided already. Any idea what you want to study for?

I went to a high school profile that focuses on maths & programming, so I'm probably going to go on programming or something related to economics. There's some sort of academy available in a few countries called Academy Plus and it's somewhat close to me, and it's a free and fun-sounding alternative to college, so maybe I'll try for that if my parents insist with further education.
But to be honest, I'd rather ditch all that and become a truck driver. No sarcasm at all.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Don't you need money to get a truck license? Then you still need to get money somehow. And i know my parents would never allow me to do something like that.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It doesn't cost much more than getting a driving license, I just need to get an extra permit besides that, as far as I know. But even though over here you can do most things after turning 18, I think I can only get that permit when I'm 20 or 21.
My dad is a truck driver and so are 3 out of 4 of my uncles, and so was my grandad, so I don't think they'd be that much against it :)
I also thought about trying to get a job at the EA or Ubisoft that are in Romania, but I feel like that would be too difficult for me.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

In that case i think you could easily become a truck driver. Just have to wait a little bit. I think that getting a job at EA or Ubisoft would be more of a hassle then waiting a few years and getting a license. Maybe tell your dad about it and search for a job till then. If they insist on studying you could always do the Academy Plus.
