The change was some time ago, you can only add games to your library now. No more storing or re-directing.

But I thought that old-style gifts (that were stored in inventory) still can be accepted to inventory. And if the question is
If someone sends me a Steam Gift via email
then it can only be old-style gift (new can't be sent to email). Or am I wrong and old gifts can be accepted only to library too?

I have not used Gifts in a long time (3 years?), so I can't answer that sorry.
Might still be possible.

Well, I went ahead and clicked the link in the email. It looks like I can store it in my inventory after all!

old gifts still work that way, but there are only few ways to get new gifts in your inventory

If someone sends me a Steam Gift via email, am I able to direct it to anyone else/my inventory or is my only option to place it in my Steam library?
The Steam gifting and trading rules changed recently so I am not sure what will happen. Just asking because I have a Steam gift sent to my email and I am not sure what my options will be.
