Twice I got a notification that there's a new reply, but nothing shows there? Is this a matter of deleted replies, or is there something more happening? (I have a notification now, but nothing new is showing.)

Edit: Looking at one potential thread, I do see a deleted reply. Perhaps it would be a good idea to remove the notification once the message is deleted. Either that, or show that there was a message and it was deleted on the replies page.

Probably deleted posts a user removed after making.

It happens when comment is deleted, or whole giveaway with replies is deleted.

Notification stays, but actual comment is not visible. Must be that notifications are not refreshed after they appear. They are removed only after you click on "mark as read".

So not really a bug, more like decision how they work. Otherwise site would need to constantly check all replies from all users and look for deleted ones to update /messages page. So I guess it saves computing power? I'm not developer though, just my idea :P

also not a dev, but that sounds right. also 'cause. iirc, ESGST has something to check messages continuously, or more often...

ESGST parses pages in intervals, to find new posts or unread messages. That's why updates are more frequent.

If it's possible to update /messages whenever someone replies to you and show that there is a new message, it should also be possible to update it when someone deletes such a message.

I'm not writing it's not possible, only that for some reason cg decided to not implement it that way.

I'm sorry my reply was not clear. I agree with most what you've written. I only wanted to say that I don't think it is necessary to constantly look for delete replies.
