Yeah, I've amended my original post. There's no mod that supports it through Steam, I'd have to get a no-Steam crack of some kind...
The one or two methods that support Steam require offline mode, third party software and probably an hour or two of setup... and even then it's still wonky.

Is there any actual campaign/story to it? Or is it just mindless killing stuff?
The latter has always been my impression of the Serious Sam games... but I can't say I ever gave it a fair shake. Either way, more split screen the better. :-]

Saying it has a story would be exaggerating, it's there, but it's incredibly weak and clichéd. The game in essence is just about mindless shooting, but it is good fun over multiplayer.

You can re-enable split screen in Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. From a quick Google:

I've not tried it personally, so your mileage may vary.

If the logic is already there, and it's officially enabled on console... why can't developers just not go out of their way to fuck with PC gamers? LEAVE IT IN TACT! Especially disappointed that Valve is contributing to this.
Thanks though! If I'm in a bind, I guess it's better than nothing. :-]

Well Co-Optimus only lists the Serious Sam games and L4D as FPS shooters which have split screen, but here are all games genres they've got listed that have split screen in case you want to try any of those.

I tried l4d 1/2 with a friend a while back and we just couldn't get it to work. We eventually got portal 2 to work with some hassle after it wouldn't detect the controllers.
Have you heard of Jamestown ? Not specifically what you're looking for but has great native local multiplayer options.
edit: I can't hyperlink for the life of me
Also like others have said some Serious Sam games are split screen, that was pretty much the only reason I bought the SS humble weekly sale :)

I've been having a hoot playing Resident Evil 6 with a friend of mine. We've finished it (or at least the true coop parts) and now I'm looking for the next big thing.
It seems developers really love fucking with PC gamers though, by actually going the extra mile to REMOVE split screen support from certain games that have it on console (Resident Evil 5, Left 4 Dead, Borderlands). There are some weak split-screen mods for Borderlands, but none that support Steam without tearing my PC to shreds.
What are some good shooters (preferably something with a campaign/story) that offer split screen?
Thanks!
EDIT: I've already thoroughly enjoyed Portal 2. :-]
