huh... never heard Nightwish before - I'm an old school metal head, Early Metallica, early Korn, All Iron Maiden, Pantera, Slayer etc...
I looked it up and watched a few and I have to say I'm impressed - Very upbeat metal as opposed to the rage I'm used to but I kind of enjoyed it. Thanks.

I prefer punk, hardcore and grindcore but I also love some metal bands. My favorite ones are for example Tiamat (old) and Master's Hammer. Do you know Master's Hammer? I hope so, it's a legend!

Master's Hammer is a cult band. A bit surprising that you combine this along with Tiamat with the genres that you mentioned ;)

Well, the first two albums from Tiamat was death metal so it is not so different kind of metal. I don't like the new tiamat. I like just the first three albums + Treblinka (it's was a band before Tiamat). So I disagree, Tiamat changed really very, very much. From a raw death metal to a melodic rock or something like that.
And I like Master's Hammer also because I am Czech and I understand the lyrics so for me it is not cult just because of the instrumental part but also because of the lyrics.

The second album of Tiamat was far from raw death metal, it was the foundation for the atmospheric releases that followed. Though it was just the seed, the flower came out with Clouds (probably my favorite album) and blossomed with Wildhoney.
Saying that Tiamat playing melodic rock shows that you were not following closely the band's evolution. I think that just 1 album fits the description melodic rock. For me the biggest change was from the first to the second album, after that I can see them evolving progressively. You are right, I just want to ephasize that the old tiamat and master's hammer are not so different according to it's "hardness". And I also want to emphasize the difference in the "hardness" between old and new tiamat. I don't care about the new one so I don't know the exact name od its genre. For me everything soft like the album A Deeper... is "something like rock" . I watched them until the album A Deeper Kind of Slumber and this album was the last one I bought. But it seems they changed a bit again because the song you post here is kind of different again.
I forgot to write another czech band I love. But more precisely I love only one album - first album. The name of the band is Debustrol and it is a classic too although I am not sure if it is also known outside our country. The first album was very different so if you know just the newer ones and don't like them, you should listen to the first one because you could like it. The album is called Neutropatolog. Most favorite song among people is Antikrist.

It's impressive that they are still active, though they have since 2009 to release a full length album.
Root is a weird case.. I stumbled upon this band earlier, though I didn't pay the attention they seem to deserve.
Hopefully I will do it now. I see that after the album "Zjevení" (1991) they started to write lyrics in english for all of the following releases.
My personal favorite czech band is Krabathor by the way (I am waiting 13 years for an album :D)

I know Krabathor but more or less just the name. I know it is a death metal and many people thinks it is the best death metal from our country. But this band is said to be very arrogant and I don't like them because of it. I prefer humble people.
As you sure know Master's Hammer sang about satanism in the first two albums. Many people adored them because of it. But when I listen to the newer album called Mantras, I am kinda sure that "they grew up" and now they laugh at the whole satanism and they have fun of it in they lyrics. That's very funny.
BTW I like the album Mantras and I was really very surprised they were able to make a good album after so long time because 99 % of band I like had good just the first album or demo. Most of the bands turned too soft for me after first or second album.
I am glad you know the old thrash bands and even like them. It would be a pity if just czech guys knew them. To tell the truth, if all metal bands played like them now, I may be still metalhead now. But I am not so old so when these legends played in +-1991 I was just an 9 years old boy. I listened to them when I was about 14 but even if I don't listen to metal primarily now, I still adore this metal classics.

At least they are the most well known, if not the best. That's another big subject, whether some musicians/artists are down-to-earth or poseurs/peacocks. Personally I would appreciate to find out that some musicians are simple and "approachable" people. But in spite of my disappointment in the opposite scenario, I cannot dislike them as musicians because of that, still. It's a different thing to be good at your job / in art and a different thing to be a good person. Well if that can be combined, it's even better for sure. I feel you though, I prefer humble people myself too.
Master's Hammer is not the only band that has matured during their careers and changed their perception about things. This is a good thing of course, evolving and developing your perspective.
Another big topic, how many bands soften their sound after the first (few) album(s). Even though this was happening a lot in late 90's, in the 00's it became common again for bands to make a comeback to their roots. But that was unsuccessful for me in most cases, because it wasn't genuine at all, just an attempt to grab back the old fans :p

There are many cases in the past that the band deliberately sent invalid information to the press or the internet etc, so I am not going to rely in anything :P
