You don't know you can clean up your system files running Disk Cleanup with administrator privileges? Every backup files related to Windows Update will be removed in your system.

Silverlight is dead. MS abandoned it themselves, no idea why they still offer it with winupdate (and they ll even unhide it every time again). It was supposed to be something like a Flash replacement, but failed and isn't used anywhere.

I usually install every single update that shows up on Windows Update.

Actually, like FeiLing mentioned above, it was intended to be Microsoft's alternative to Adobe's Flash Player.

I've never needed Silverlight, myself, so I've never installed it, and hid the update so it wouldn't prompt me again. :P

I don't actually believe there are many websites that actually use silverlight. It was pretty much a huge failure. In the years since it was first launched, I don't think I have ever come across a site that uses it.

It has been a loong time since I saw the last video/web that required Silverlight to play. You can skip it without any worry
