Aw man, I feel you! I'm always pushing ahead, bc I need to play the game, I need to beat, I need to move on to the next one. Still trying to figure out a way to get back to "the old" way of gaming and just enjoying a game and be more relaxed about it.

Good luck with your project! \o/

I definitely get that, I often feel like the only time I can appreciate a game for what it is, is when it's a multiplayer online game with match-based gameplay. Because really the end is whenever you decide you're done with the game.
Like I play a ton of tower unite, with nearing 600 hours in the game, and I get to fully just enjoy that game for what it is because there's always new cool stuff to see and do and there's no end-state. It's just whenever I decide i'm all good.

I really hope we can both get back to that way of gaming, I have a lot of games i'm constantly wanting to replay, like Ikenfell, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Prey, etc. But "can't" because of my current relationship/problem with gaming.

I feel exactly the same way.

Yeah, endless games are in that regard "easier", bc... when ever one is done, one is done... or not xD

I was so happy with the Mass Effect Legendary version, bc I had a reason to get back to it. Considering how often I played it (and still want to play it), it's some kind of joke. But yeah, even felt guilty to play a whole "new" game completely. Ugh, maybe I should throw some replay into next year to go against that internal trend :3

Yes replay some games, if that's what you want to do then do that.

I am buying games only in humble, fanatical and steam directly. In previous year it was like 30 games per month. I stopped buying from fanatical after moving to other country (prices in euro is not acceptable for me) and will stop buying from humble after prepaid period. Clearing backlog might consume 5-10 years, its like 1.4k games + 20 in wishlist. Great idea.

I mean if this goes down ill write down what I do but yeah I suggest checking out backlog assassins. Even if you don't post its a nice way to keep track of games you are yet to do. Plus maybe you might get some motivation from the users there. I know when I joined I slacked very much especially with wins, but now thanks to that (plus the play a win event) I've completed about 90% of them as some didn't get 100% on or simply dropped for the moment until a better mood to touch on those more awkward games

For me personally, I rebuilt my backlog with games I really want to play on HowLongToBeat and started tracking times on the games I've been playing, and that's personally helped me further tackle my backlog. Timing my games has also helped me know immediately how much time I have put into the game which helps especially in the case I end up playing a game I'm not really fond of because I can justify the time not being worth it. I also have games all over the place outside of Steam or even non-PC games so it personally helped just put everything in one place.

I know how you are feeling, I have the same issue!!
Games don't make me feel the way they used to do :(
I do use BLAEO and I love that website and it helps a lot, also helps that I am very picky!

Titles you have marked "Ignore" 65904

Though I beat 26 games this month, technically 24 since 1 game was cut in 3 shorter parts, but still, now I have 40% of my library either finished or 100% completed so I am happy with that

I am always interested when is talked about playing games, but I don't really use any site or I don't have to be in group to play my games. The most I am interested when it is made as competition with leaderboard, like PAGYWOS, where I like when I move upper on ranks, no matter it means nothing.
My wishlist on steam was reduced about year ago, but I doubt I ever had more like 50 games on, it mostly help me track unreleased games I am interested in, or games that I am not interested play immdietely. And it has Forspoken to check if they really start on 80€ or drop base price lower when some bigger edition will be released as Fallouts do it.

That year I bought two bigger titles without even touching them so far and I promised myself that I won't buy any game until I beat Days gone and Red dead redemption 2. So I should hurry, because Elex 2 and Gothic remake release days are every hour closer.

I had this problem before (not as much as yours, I had 250+ games) and I think I found the perfect solution.

1- Find a random steam game selector. My favorite
2- Do you want to play that game right now? If yes, play. If not, remove it from your account all together. (tell me if you don't know how)
3- (optional) Note every game you remove in a .txt file. If you somehow want to play them in the future, steam lets you add them back so you wouldn't need to buy them again.

I removed near 100 games like that, and I haven't regretted once. Now I have only 28 games in my backlog and I can just enjoy the games I play without thinking about the others.

Lastly, check BLAEO. It's basically what you are trying to do, but easier ^^

(and PAGYWOSG, it is the greatest group/event in the site imo)

I see you haven't posted in the thread in couple days and a lot of people have just directed you to other event, but if you're still intending to make this into a little event of your own then I'd definitely be interested in joining you on it. :D

I never feel like I can just enjoy a game anymore because i'm constantly thinking about how I need to play the game and get through it so I can check off another game off my 600+ game backlog.

I can absolutely relate to this feeling, even though my own backlog is only third the size of yours. Currently sitting at 214 game backlog (I'm including non-Steam games as well) to be exact and I know it's not that much compared to a lot of other people, but it still feels immense. It's not enjoyable to be pushing yourself to just play-play-play because you need to get through the large amount you own and much like you, I also wish I had ended up with less owned games. I should attempt to follow your example and trim down my wishlist, it's at 140 games right now and definitely feels like it should be way less than that to still be acceptable.

I decided to delete a lot of my accounts, like Fanatical, GMG, Indiegala, etc. Also unsubscribed from humble bundle choice.

Major, major kudos to you for going through with it. I know I couldn't delete my accounts and even unsubscribing from Choice is not something I can accomplish, I'll just keep on pausing. :P

I'm always up for events that require you to play your backlog. If this happens, sign me up :)
The others have already mentioned other sites and events that also aim for the same thing, so i wont comment much on that.

My main problem with my games is that i always try to do everything in them and that takes a lot of time in some games especially if you have the tendency to search every nook and cranny like i do. I keep telling myself that i should only play games in normal difficulty and focus only in the main storyline and forget about achievements so i can move to the next game but i almost never actually manage to do it. my completionist urge is too strong 😂
