Oh damn.
Along with Cornelius, for me he was also Ash in Alien and Simeon in Lord of War.

Great actor, truly sad news. Always loved the radio play in which he played Frodo https://archive.org/details/LordOfTheRings_201706

Oh damn. How is it that so many of the screen and theatre legends are leaving us this year?
I'll always remember him as Bilbo but think of his contribution in so many other parts, in so many movies he left a mark, from Frankenstein to Alien, Big Night or the Naked Lunch
The quintessential character actor who elevated parts that could have ended up irrelevant without him in genre movies, dramas and big hits alike.
Goodbye Sir Ian.
Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

Another sad day for us movie and theater fans. The great Sir Ian Holm has died. Most of us might remember him as Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings, but to me, he will live on as Napoleon from Time Bandits, Cornelius from The Fifth Element and Dr Rapson from The Day After Tomorrow.
RiP, sir Holm. And thank you for sharing your vast talent with us, You will be terribly missed.
