I'd definitely recommend Gang Beasts, it's a fun brawler game for up to 8 people (now also featuring online multiplayer, so you can party up with your 4 people on one computer and go get your ass kicked by strangers).
Another game I've found fun is Party Sabouteurs, which is difficult to describe...Every player controls a spy and a sniper, spies have to complete objectives and snipers have to assassinate enemy spies. It was really fun, though can be quite confusing/difficult sometimes (had a game where 2 people were left and neither of them really knew where their spy was).
My brother quite likes Starwhal, though the price is pretty high (though there's always sales ^_^).
2 games that I've found quite fun are Yojimbrawl (which came with a Humble Monthly) and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, but the first one gets quite repetitive and the second one is completely different gameplay-wise.
I guess that's all I have regarding recommendations, though I must say, Crawl is really fun, especially unlocking new things ^^
My brother and his friends really like Towerfall, but I'm bad at it (so I don't like it :P)

Crawl is awesome! Glad that it's finally getting some recognition.

Samurai Gun - Kinda like towerfall, but different. maybe even better.
Gauntlet - great take on the original
Hidden in Plain Sight - really fun with a lot of people.
Sonic and All-stars racing transformed - I'd argue that it's better than Mario Kart
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - A co-operative space platformer where you share tasks operating a ship. Lots of fun!
Mount Your Friends - It's, well...just have a look
Octodad: Dadliest Catch - this one is a blast
Rivals of Aether - 2d smash bros, probably the best of it's type on steam
Lethal League - It's smash brothers turned into a high speed baseball game.
Jackbox Party Pack (1,2,3) - fun party games that you control with your cell phone. can support a lot of players,
