How often do you support content creators? (Artists, youtubers, musicians, buskers etc)

View Results
Often! I follow my faves on Patreon or give tips on streams etc! (Thank you)
I give to buskers and people I know irl, but not often to online creators.
I follow content creators, but I support by commenting and liking!
I'm a ninja, I follow silently.
I'm a potato of the arts. I don't follow many artists/ youtubers.

bro i can't seem to find the train.Good luck with your art bro.

Bump.

When was the first time you decided you wouldn't just draw for fun, but make it a bigger part of your life. I also assume at that point you would have committed to getting better and practicing so what kept you motivated to do that?

Also I feel when creating something, the hardest part is starting it because there's so many things to think about and anything can go wrong. It's hard to know where to start, how to plan for the future, and especially for early steps, if things were done well. How do you deal with starting a drawing?

I like being creative, but I feel like I'm not that great at being creative. I never have that motivation to try or learn and I feel I'll only try something only to fail making it time wasted.

Thanks for the bump, refat17!

That's a toughie. Maybe about 3-5 years ago?
I think my country doesn't value creative people as much as they do people with certs and education.. so I have a slight feeling I either have to be outstanding (very unlikely) OR art is likely a side job to supplement income. (prolly going to happen)
So.. art is a semi serious hobby, but actually getting to where I'd like to be is more likely a derpy dream.

I do still draw for fun and practise, but I don't do it as often as I should to improve quick enough.
Motivation.. is a fickle one sometimes. I started because I was amazed by a friend who did a nice wolf sketch for me a long time ago.
What causes me to continue when I'm down is probably when I look back at my older pieces and see the improvement.
My humans all looked like sausages back then. No exaggeration :')))
It's also the feeling of satisfaction seeing myself me able to draw things I couldn't do before.

I think the best thing to do sometimes, is just to start.
I don't make pieces as often as I'd like to because I tend to worry about the outcome, the pose, anatomy. And if it'll look ok for the time put in. Starting sometimes fixes that because you think of better ways to do it as you go along. I think its finishing things that are half started that's difficult :d

I know that feeling. I personally don't feel like I'm a very creative person. And I'd like to be someone more spontaneous, making less stiff, actiony and flowy art. I know this is a cliche saying this, but practise does help a lot :0
If you want, I could post a dumb old sketch from years ago, and one now. I often still don't feel like a creative person. But I guess I'm more creative than I was a few years back.
If you keep practising, you'll improve, slowly but surely!

Also sorry for the long ramble, hope you found some of it useful...?

Thanks for the response. I try myself sometimes, but I'm not patient enough and not very good. I do it for fun. It sucks because I can perfectly make the image I want in my mind, but I know it will take a lot of time, work and dedication to make that picture in mind to reality. There's also this constant need to improve. I also agree that it's hard to start especially with things like anatomy, it's hard to exactly know if a body part will be an incorrect scale for example. And I also agree it's hard to draw something that seems to flow, I find this especially true with hair.

It would be cool to see an older and a newer creation of yours if you want.

No, not just yet.
I'd love to, if I could get hired to do so!
Maybe one day I could make a short little game...

You could try. I think that you can quite easily create platformers with game engines as Unity (not sure though I only use it for 3D...). It could be a good way to show what you can do.
