Close all your browser windows, steam and everything that has a connection to the internet.
Start cmd in admin mode. Type "netstat -ano". Check for any active connections and use the PID to compare it with your running tasks.
Also, check "msconfig" for suspicious start up programs.

You can try this also: http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool?form=1
By nod32 you mean ESET? http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Check c:\programdata if no weird files are in the root.
Using malwarebytes and nod32 is a good start, and you are probably 99% safe.
But you can never ever be 100% safe unless you reformat or use a backup.
Also that BSOD could have been from something else.

Try using antivirus rescue discs. (and yes you can run them from USB) For making bootable USB, get universal usb installer http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ because you can easily download a lot of antivirus disc iso with it.)

Next time just Google "kat" and the proper link should be somewhere near the top.

If nothing comes up in safe mode, you're probably fine? I mean, BSOD's can happen for a lot of things, so it's possible the software was intended to be malicious but instead caused a kernel panic and crashed the system (which, mind you, is malicious, but not infectious. Is there still an issue? Either way, probably should, uh, be more careful in the future.

Have you tried this? (it's different from the original app)

My brother liked Linux, but after a while he started to hate it due to the incompatibility of varies programs and software.
A real shame, Linux is pretty decent... If only more softwares were available on Linux.

Yep, that's what I meant. Sucks that developers rarely give Linux any love. :(

panda anti-virus software is awesome. its' been number one on most sites including PC mag for the past year already. try it out. here's a link: http://www.pandasecurity.com/
Also, if you've full-scanned your PC already with this AV and still get nothing but feel like you're still infected, try 'panda cloud scan' or something ( i forgot the exact name ) . It's under panda security too. It scans your PC with something like a nightly build of virus library updates so you're guaranteed to find something. Hope it helps.

Did you use malware bytes and made a FULL SCAN and not a superficial one????? (I've had people telling me they had nothing with malware bytes and that they waited the 20 minutes of the sacn, so after that I sowaed them the full scan, made it and found a lot of stuff)
FORMAT c:/ is always a good thing too xDDDD
