Large, underground bunker style house with lots of exits, secret passageways, hidden storage areas, and wired as a smart house using only open-source software. With a hot tub, attached workshop, and morgue-locker style air-conditioned cubby for a sleeping compartment (think like shadowrun returns). Oh and a stripper pole

Edit: one or more stripper poles

Underground homes used to be really popular. Make sure you get enough sunlight to avoid depression.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, that's fair. I was thinking mostly in terms of cheapest/most efficient year-round HVAC and awesome tornado-resistance.

Have also heard there can be issues with radon gas in underground housing if not done properly... (but in my "perfect home" scenario, obviously it would be handled ^_^)

But since I am trying to get more exercise, I'd just have to get out of the house a bit anyway. Now if I can just win/cheat at the lottery... or stumble into KillingArts's perfect home for a bit :-D

Personally I don't have a perfect home I can imagine. All I know is that I will feel like it's perfect once I have a GIGANTIC shower. Just straight up like a giant room that's entirely a shower but there's only like one showerhead in it so the size is pointless. But I want it anyway.

Two floor small house in a forest ... first floor will have the kitchen , nice veranda , a small tidy living room with an old couch some bookshelves and a fireplace .

A staircase in the back , leading to the second floor , 1 room is a workplace with PC and work related stuff , drawing board ... other room is bedroom , a room with a sloped roof and couple windows on it , and a tiny balcony with couple flowerpots .

Basement having some nice wine stored there , and some sausages hanging there to dry in open air ...

You know something along those lines ...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh is the staircase inside the house or an outside one, with doors for entering each floor? Maybe a little balcony half way between floors?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Inside staircase ... and nop i think i prefer and open coridor instead of a door to enter the floor .

And yeah balcony halfway trough may be lovely , with few flower pots there 2 i guess , or some of those vine plants going all the way down

I've actually thought quite a lot about this (I watch a shit ton of home improvement/building-type shows) and honestly it's hard to say without being in the different types of homes and getting a feel for them. I lean towards midcentury/contemporary modern designs.

Oh I watched couple of "tiny houses" on YouTube and realized while it would be a nice project, I definitely require modern times appliances and luxuries like shower and not worrying how much power my oven is using. Currently living in an apartment in a 140 years old house which is great you know, thick walls, own micro climate, wine cellar... but... I'm just renting so can't really "make it my own".

I'm interested in them but I would want a large (tiny) house. I could also never live off-the-grid.

Norwegian prison. It supplies all basic needs: food, bed, internet, videogames. And government pays for it. Also it looks better than my current house. And I wouldn't have to work in it.

Oh, I've seen videos about it, really looks great. I wonder how good their cabins in the forest are if their prisons look like that.

My perfect home would be a rather small and simple place with just the necessary in it. It would be rather dark, with smooth and soft illumination. Not an apartment, more like a little house. About decoration, I tend to enjoy more minimalist spaces, but not too minimalist. A lot of black and white happening, tons of art pieces hanging on the walls, little plants on pots, books in shelves, the smell of coffee in the air. It would be a quiet place, where I can feel safe, chill, peaceful. And I'd need some yard for my dogs to play (at least 2). That's more or less what I have in mind now. I'm curious about others' perfect homes now :)

Would you have some nice lamps in the front, in the yard? So in the evening you can sit outside, enjoy the sound of crickets, pet your dogs and drink something cool while sitting in a rocking chair?

I felt awesome with that description until the rocking chair... I feel old now, LOL. It's kinda weird because I'm rather young, but have fun like a 60 year old woman. And I don't really mind, but it's a little bit funny :P

Minimalistic place, not too big, a living room for people to hang out and play games/watch movies, some windows, not too noisy. I don't really care much about the decoration but maybe warm colors for the walls.

And a jacuzzi would be nice :D

My ideal home would probably be a big ass sailing yacht. That way when I get bored of the view of my front yard I just set sails and off into the sunset I go. No idea how big it would have to be to avoid getting crammed inside but I assume 35m+, probably larger. State of the art communication systems, GPS, water filtration system and whatnot. A couple of deckchairs, a place for a hammock and some planters for a little herbgarden and some vegetables (like in Waterworld) on deck. Also a place for a Zodiac raft to go shopping from nearby islands and maybe a jetski. Obviously it would also need a motor for when the winds fail me.

Got UC40 led projector for $60 the other day. Let me tell you, playing "Walking dead a new frontier" on a 200 x 90 cm illuminated piece of wall never felt so great (those are my legs and a bed below the "screen").

Two storey house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the upper floor, one bathroom being attached to the main bedroom.
On the main floor, there would be open space for general living from the main entrance to about half way of the length of the house. From there, on one side would be the stairs leading up and on the other side, a half bathroom. The remaining space would be the kitchen/dining area. The kitchen would definitely have an island counter. There would be a big sliding patio door leading to a wooden patio with the remainder of the back yard being just grass.

When I was a kid I dreamt about living in big home, with many rooms, garden etc. But then I became adult and realized someone gotta clean all this space and I hate cleaning ;p So I changed my dreams ;P I'd like medium flat in some good neighbourhood. Something like 50-70 square meters, with a big kitchen (it's a must, I love cooking, cooking helps me relax, I can spend whole day in kitchen preparing 4 course meal for friends, but doing this in 4 sq m kitchen I have right now is really problematic ;p) and a big balcony to sit on fresh air with a cup of tea or a beer and a book :> I also always dreamt of having even a small media room - with PC, TV, consoles and hi-fi set. It's fine to have PC in your bedroom, but when you want to play )especially coop using voip) and your fiancee sleeps 2m from you it's not really an option ;p

Secluded.
Dark but not pitch black.
Big indoor rooms, not too many, 3 bedrooms perhaps?
Land at the back so I can play football and keep animals, sheep, chickens, cows and horses.
Not too hot in summer, not too cold in winter.
In the countryside but not isolated from humanity.
A garage for a car.
Room for friends to stay.
Friends live close enough to see daily.
STABLE INTERNET CONNECTION! Holy Christ this should have been the first thing I said.

Two story house, a bit secluded but not far from a town(biking distance), lots of green around, maybe near a lake.
The house itself has a lot of open spaces but at the same time is organised in a way that most areas can't see the others.
A living room with a fireplace, an elegant dining room, a big kitchen with a central bench, a study and a bathroom. Upstairs are the bedrooms and a couple more bathrooms.
Mostly earthly colors, nothing too bright, nothing too dark, just a clean and cozy look.
Favorite place the wooden table at the back yard.
And the house comes with someone that cleans it :P
