Or can I just put down a random email that I have access to instead of the one linked to my account?

Gifts are sometimes sent by email. You can use another email, but don't forget to check your inbox when you win a game. ^_^

You actually need an email that exists/you have access to, because your games are gifted/game keys are sent there.

Why are people trying to joke on a topic like this? =/ What if he actually did listen to you and put a throw away e-mail? Not only does he lose out but whoever is gifting the game too. That's not cool.

Yes, you do need a real e-mail address that you actually use and check.

Gooby pls...
OP isn't asking if he can use any e-mail, he's asking if he need to use his actual e-mail (the one attached to his steam account) or another e-mail WHICH HE ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO.
Yes OP, you can use another e-mail as long as you have access to it, cause some games are gifted through e-mail, so you have to have access to redeem it ;)

People don't try to joke on this topic, those are actual answers which you would understand if you had read the original post carefully.
The OP doesn't asks if he has to use an email adress he has access to, he asks if the email adress on steamgift has to be the same as he is using for his steam account.
Therefore TrickZter, AtomicWoodchuck and jbondguy007 did gave a valid answer and pentaerythrito, didn't read the OP's post carefull enough either.

edit: And me is just too slow at typing, Lobo93 beat me to the punch

I did read all. I just understood his phrasing differently. I understood "have access to" as "have one to put down". As in he has a valid e-mail he can input (so the site will accept) but wouldn't/couldn't actually use. My mistake if I took his phrasing wrong.

Everybody makes mistakes so don't worry.
It just didn't look good that reply an hour after it already was answered and nobody had replied to that thread since ;)

Huh? I know everyone's sense of humour is different, but where exactly are the jokes? Unless I'm missing something extraordinarily subtle, I see nothing on this page that threatens to raise even the hint of a smirk, except perhaps for your bizarre post...

To summarize the points,
You can put your email that you used with Steam or
you can put an email that you are sure you have access to.
Now I request thread closure.

You can put a alt address, as long as you have access to it in case you won a giveaway.
