The Chinese Room (formerly Thechineseroom) is a British video game developer based in Brighton that is best known for exploration games,[1] such as Dear Esther. The company originated as a mod team for Half-Life 2, based at the University of Portsmouth in 2007, and is named after John Searle's Chinese room thought experiment. In August 2018, it became a subsidiary of Sumo Digital.

Current timeline of the game:

  • Hardsuit Labs was the original development team responsible for the game.
  • Covid-19 begins in 2020 causing delays and slower development process as developers adjust to working at home.
  • Hardsuit Labs forced to release their responsibility of Bloodlines 2 in February 2021, then the game goes into hiatus while Paradox looks for another team.

Paradox has a partnership with kotch media for bloodlines 2
I dont know if its related, but seems like they lost a 2 billion deal and suddenly kotch media studios are shutting down.
In any case, if this fell onto the chinese room hands, i would say its time to cancel those pre orders

No idea what you are talking about. The "partnership" with Koch Media existed for years and only was about the distribution of the physical copies of Paradox Interactive games.

Sadly, I think IF we ever see this game, it will be worse than Duke Nukem For (N)ever, after all the delays and restarts and team changing and firing of designers and... I dunno what else happened but shit happened.

There also was an announcement trailer with game scenes.

Really difficult to tell if TCR is capable of handling such a project. Since their acquisition, they have become something entirely different. And have never done anything similar to this.

I love the Chinese room but damn that is a different kind of game than they've ever made

Well at least they didn't choose something like a visual novel developer or something similar to take over that game.

Although at this point it would probably have been a good idea, since I don't see how they're gonna release something unless they completely scrap the whole gameplay part and just focus on making a decent story in that universe :x
