Hello me and a friend would like to play minecraft LAN, i have tried doing it with hamachi and with normal LAN. but for some reason there are never any servers popping up when created. i have seen allot of videos (trying) to help and i did most of them but it still doesn't work. so i thought id ask the only place where i knew there were game genuises.
So the question is how do we get this to work?

Why're you trying to play through hamachi if you're on the same network?

Wait you are on the same network? Then it should be easier, did you check if your firewalls aren't blocking the connection? Click on start, write "cmd", hit enter, write "ipconfig", hit enter, and then look up the IPv4 address. Open up the cmd on the second computer and write "ping ip" where IP is that number that was on your first computer (192.168.###.###) .. if there aren't any lost packets you should be able to connect to them using that IP address in minecraft (if they have the server running of course) .. if there are lots packets something between you and the second computer is blocking it, probably firewall.

I bet there's a site out there in the internet which has minecraft as its main topic and maybe, just maybe a category dedicated to frequently asked questions.

If you make the server make sure you use your Hamachi IPV4 IP address as server IP (it should be something like this 25.148.152.190) and also make sure you set the game to online-mode=false
All this can be set in the server.properties oh, and you have to direct connect to the server IP, since it won't show up

Servers generally won't show up when do LAN parties. You generally have to start the game on the host system & then open up the world to the LAN.

HOWEVER, you'll have to make sure you have the firewall & router settings properly configured as well, since that can cause problems with others trying to get in. Alternatively, you could just run a Minecraft server just to keep stuff simple for everybody (locally & online).

mc25.serverminer.com:25934

You can use my server if you want...my friends rarely go on it anyways lolz.

15 players max. Default 1.7.2 Minecraft...I have craftbukkit mods but CraftBukkit is only at 1.6.4 so I put it to 1.7.2 since a friend asked.

You are looking in a wrong place, Hamachi is old and obsolete program, use Tunngle.com and this tutorial: http://www.tunngle.net/wiki/Network:Minecraft

Search on google for minecraft tunngle servers.
If you want you can join our dedicated 24/7 server updated to 1.7.2, "mc.adelan.net" we are playing on weekends, and most of the time after school, we are 5 mature guys, we never advertised the server but maybe this is a good time. You are welcome to come :)

Thanks :D
You dont need Tunngle to join our server, just start the game and write mc.adelan.net in the Multiplayer --> Direct Connection (see you on weekend) :D

Hey, Hamachi is only a stupid VPN tool, that connects you together! If you want to play LAN, you have to sit side by side at home connected to you internetconnection (per cable). You know, in my opinion, Hamachi sucks... I think that Tunngle is a loooooooot better!! If you wont believe me, check out a video on youtube!

I used to play minecraft using hamachi. If I remember correctly you must set server client to offline mode and sometimes you have to type in server ip manually.

Open up single player game
Pause
"Open up to LAN"
Friends go into MP screen.
Server should be there.

If you're playing LAN there's no reason to put up a server anymore.

Check if you and your friends have green light or whatever on Hamachi. Start server. Go to Multiplayer in Minecraft, choose Add server and copy IPv4 from hamachi. You should probably see server now. For yourself you can just type in port of your server like this :25565 or whatever.. :/
