I have never played any of the batman games and am wondering if they are any good. I really enjoy open world RPG's liek fallout. Are the batman games similar or is it a liniar plot like COD for example? Im planning to buy them all for $33 on steam. Are they fun?

They are very fun. They really make you feel like you are the Caped Crusader. Definitely worth it ESPECIALLY on this sale.

Actually, for Asylum and City, I'd look on SteamTrades and get them there. They were both in the Humble WB Bundle a while back, so you can find them cheap there. Nab Origin from Steam though!

Fun, but nothing like CoD or Fallout. It's an open world linear story.

The best one is Arkham City. Arkham Asylum was the first one, and Origins is a glorified expansion pack. Look up gameplay vids.

First two were bundled, and from what I've heard very good. I've played about 30 minutes of the first. The third I've heard lots of mixed reviews about. There's meant to quite a lot of glitches, which most likely aren't really going to be fixed, but some people still like it. Someone on my friends list was saying they loved it but they were a large Batman fan. I'd recommend getting the first two for relatively cheap, then see how you like them before buying the third.

Arkham City is really awesome, the main point for me was that the games do make you feel like you're the Bat, throwing bad guys around and solving stuff with high-tech gadgets. They have awesome animations and acting.
As for your taste, they are very linear, even if Arkham City has plenty of nice side-quests.

It is amazing to swing around with the grapnel. I've been playing Arkham Asylum and the demo of Arkham City so I would recommend both! Probably a bit more Arkham City because it has a bit more open-worldy stuff whereas Arkham Asylum is kind of stuck on an island. Either way, both are great!

Skip Origins tbh. It's made by another company that won't even fix game breaking bugs

For best to worst:

  1. Arkham Asylum
  2. Arkham City
  3. Arkham Origins (you should probably wait for like a 4,99$ sale on that or something)

Its down to personal taste. I much preferred Asylum and how it was a lot more focused in terms of level design and narrative. City is more a giant playground full of Riddler trophies.

It is a good game but it just didn't had that eerie Batman comic book feel from Asylum and i felt like some of the villans were just there for mandatory bossfights (this issue would later proved to be far worse in Origins). Still a great game though

I beat Origins and had a great time. Good graphics and no glitches that I encountered.

Asylum is linear while City & Origins are open world. All 3 are great games and played them multiple times. Highly recommended.

The Arkham games are more 3D Metroidvania than they are RPG. There are no stats, no level ups. The plot is linear. You can not do much out of sequence, if anything. But I love the series.

You don't need a fantastic PC for them either, at least not AA/AC. I played them on a Radeon HD 5770 and an AMD Phenom II X4 940, on 1080p with everything but PhysX on maximum. Ran just fine at stock hardware speeds.

UNRELATED - Baman & Piderman. Really funny.

You probably didnt have ANY PhysX on, which is a lot different then saying "everything except PhysX on max". PhysX adds a WHOLE new dimension to AC. I would also suggest something along the lines of SweetFx mod for AC along with no FXAA or blur.

Without an Nvidia card, PhysX can extremely harsh. If it works at all.

Arkham City is the best for me at the moment, haven't played Origins yet since I don't have any free space.
