So I was gifted the current (and by far the most amazing one yet) Humble Bundle Weekly and it included the Back to the Future game and I thought if it'd be great way to get into the series since I have yet to see them.

So I want to know what do you think of the game, and does it fit well with the series?

Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing since I heard the game is the sequel to the last movie.

I've only played the first chapter so far after picking it up recently, but so far my impression is that it's a pretty good adventure game with somewhat clunky controls, that makes frequent references to the movies. I'm not sure it would make much sense if you jumped into it without any previous knowledge of the series.

Do me references feel forced/weird?

Not really. The movies themselves are often very self-referential and it's no more prominent in the game than it was in the movies. If you're not bothered by it when you watch the movies, the game should be fine. But again, I'm only like 2 hours into it, so I don't have the most complete perspective on it.

I loved playing Sam and Max as a kid. I got to play them in one of those infamous "X amount of (dos?) games in one package" CD. It's also how I played Jazz the Jackrabbit. Had a ton of other great games too!

Yes, I do. I liked the games as much as the movies. But I'd REALLY recommend you to watch the movies first... actually, why haven't you seen them already?! :D

I came to here to say that. The game is placed after the movie and contain a lot of references. And I'm sure you will enjoy the most if you watch the movies and then play the game.

It's actually very hard for me to watch the movies I want since my cable package doesn't get the channels where it gets shown.
I always wanted to see the movies though and my friend is letting me borrow his netflix account!

The game is a sequel to the movies, and to an extent, it assumes you've already seen the movies, both to understand the characters and to get the various little references and callbacks.

I do mildly recommend playing the game if you like Back to the Future and adventure games. It's not the best ever, but it is fun enough.

Yes, yes, yes (if you've watched and enjoyed the movies). It captures the feeling and spirit of the movies wonderfully. Honestly some of the most fun I've had playing a game in the last few years.

It's really fun, the story is good, and some of the "puzzles" can be a bit tricky at times. You will probably get around 8 to 10 hours of gameplay out of all 5 episodes together.

It's a pretty straightforward and easy adventure game. To me it was more like a 4th movie rather than a game. I did really enjoy it though because I liked the movies as well.

As others have said watch the movies first!(!!!!!!)
I love the movies -- they are "movies I grew up with" movies. So for me, the games have a very high bar set for them. To me, the games are just "alright". I could have gone without playing them, but I'm not bothered that I did. They don't ruin anything in the series, but they aren't a "must watch" part of it either.

Watch the movies then play the game. The game makes huge references to the movies. I loved every bit of it, especially episodes 4 and 5. And it had an awesome ending!

Michael J Fox is also there.

Just finished the last episode yesterday and loved it. Watch the original trilogy and then play it because it really is BTTF 4. The puzzles are pretty good. The voice actors are fantastic. Everything about the game is pretty polished. I'd love to see TellTale do another season of it.

Finish the episode 1 1st, if you feel want to continue then go for it.If not, move on to other games.

I really should play it, I have the GOG version installed. Loved it for an hour, had to go out for an errand and haven't played it since. It's been like a month. I'll play it on the weekend. From what I've played, the new characters from the game seem to fit in with the types of characters in the movies and it feels like a sequel.
