Just wondering what books should Hollywood bring to the film...and not mess it up

An example of a messed up book to movie : Eragon

However a series i would like to see in the big screen is this

Age of Fire

Why because I really enjoyed it as a book, and i think the way its done as a book, the first movie would cover the first 3 books, this is due to the fact the first 3 cover the stories of the 3 main characters from hatching to young dragon...

Then the next movies would cover the last 3 books, so a Age of Fire Saga of movies would be neat

As far as a director for this, im not entirely sure who id go for, maybe Rob Cohen (Dragonheart) or the same guy supposedly doing the next book getting a movie

Another book i know of getting a movie is Temeraire, directed by Peter Jackson last i checked.

Both books would most likely be very successful movies if done properly

Anyone else read these and think so? If not what books do you think should be movies?

Pretty much any Baen published book would make a good to decent movie/series. John Ringo's Legacy of the Aldenata series would make a great Sci-Fi band of brothers type series. Earthweb, Grand Central Arena. Honor Harrington series of books would just be to dang long for film.

I really ( I mean REALLY) loved Max Brooks' World War Z. But then Mr. Pitt took a shit on it and made me hope that Hollywood leave all my favourite things alone.

Totally it should be Witcher. There is polish serial/movie but it's horrible. With enough money (from example HBO's) movie will be SWEET.

I think that many books will be better in the form of TV series (with a good budget), so they won't be cut too much here and there as we see with films (even the Lord of the Rings got several cuts).
I would like to see Metro 2033 and his Universe as a serial, because has a deeper story than what we've seen in the game (and Last Light isn't even part of the book). Its sequel and the others Metro's "universe" books would be good too.
I'd like to see the old Gamebooks about Lone Wolf (I wonder if someone else remember them from the 90s), which had a great lore and are like a ton of material to make some films (or episodes of a serial). I heard that a game is beign developed about them, but it seems disappeared and anyway having some films is good too =D

Terror by Dan Simmons, it is a terrific book about polar expedition frozen in ice for several years. I heard they want to make a series from it, hope they won't screw it up. Also Cryostasis is a good game where I had similar feelings like when I read that book.

Echoing the Wheel of Time series... But honestly, what are the odds of Hollywood NOT screwing any of the suggestions up? It's kind of what they do.
