Welcome Back HB Main Bundle! What tier shall you buy?
I've got 9 out of 12 games available now, with over 700 hours of play time in total on those games. Great bundle, but not for me. Maybe I'll get 15$ tier for Beyond Earth, and give away remaining games, but that's unlikely.

If you want the games how is it a waste?
You can no longer get them for free,i do not get this being upset about it being free thing,i guess a lot think once it free it should always be free or dirt cheap,it was part of the joystiq awards some time ago, then again so was Mafia II and so was Xcom, and well for that matter even Bioshcock infinite was dirt cheap some time ago during a charity event it could be had for 1.00
But the point being they keyword "was" and some time ago,you bought it wanting the game, find out a couple where free and are butt hurt that you bought them, like they where free recent or can still be hard for free or cheaper.'
Good luck getting CIV 4 complete and CIV for that cheap even during sales.

Yea, you're right, the only two games I wanted actually was just Civ V and Xcom EU and EW, I wanted to give the rest away, I just got annoyed when they were all one key, but in retrospect it is still a good price to pay even for just those three titles

You still got a damn good deal,i mean sure they gave Xcom away but the DLC at that time still set you back 7.50 though they did throw in an 80% off coupon to get it off full retail price so it still cost you 6 something so in the end you got a damn good deal.
So over all for 7 something you got CIV IV,V,Xcom and DLC far cheaper then lowest ever sale prices,i paid 6 something for for Xcom dlc not long ago,so i could got CIV IV and V for a buck more.
It happens,if you want the games and are happy with what you paid then i would call that a win.

Moreover, it's the publisher's decision, Humble was clear that they don't have any control over how keys are presented.
Presumably, this is to try and prevent key resale- but who would want to put much effort into reselling games that have all been free or previously bundled, anyway? ;P
seriously, though, what an awkward bundle :X
In objective terms of value-to-gain, this seems to be one of the worst I've ever seen. Even in subjective terms, with Civ V being a pain to upgrade piece by piece- like any Paradox game- this really only seems worth it if you missed previous older Civ and X-Com bundles/free giveaways, or want to upgrade your X-Com while getting a few games for a $ or so more than the usual complete pack price.

Paradox and Betheseda and all the rest really tick me off with it.
It's bad enough steam is structured to encourage rebuying content you already own [versus GOG, which adds a discount to purchase equal to the value of owned games], but to outright force full repurchase rather than offering a GOTY upgrade? Yech.
saint's row IV is really my shining example of a generous opposite, allowing a $5 upgrade to GOTY edition.
I'm still not sure why more games don't just allow a discount on purchase price for even just owning the base game, so that people don't have to feel entirely screwed for having bought the base game without realizing there was no upgrade option.
Civilization games and Borderlands II are really the ones that come to mind for DLC-spamming without any sort of upgrade option, though.
Well, I mean, other than Payday 2 or Train simulator, but that's.. just something else entirely, on a totally different level of DLC presentation. :P

While i would agree some time ago now not so much.Syeam has introduced refunds, there should be no issues with buying a GOY as if you do not like it you can refund it.Before i liked the idea of the base game, despite that if you wanted all the dlc it was cheaper to buy the GOY vs DLC,as i rather at that time spent 2.50 on something i did not,vs the price of the game with all dlc and not like it.At the least sure i would spend a few more dollars in the long run,but at least i am not wasting all of it.
That being said now with refunds i see little point in just selling the base game and forcing it to be cheaper to buy GOY vs DLC after the fact.I do see where it might still have merit if you wanted to play online with a friend and could be enjoyed just as much without the dlc.Like Payday 2 as long as the host owns it anyone can play the dlc or if you just wanted someone to play with and could be just as much fun with base game like BL you can still get a lot miles out of the base game without dlc and have just as much fun.
A Quick edited,I would like to add i still hate the the 1teir key setup, mostly cause it is a waste if you own a lot of it,and i can not make GA's of it,i was so excited to get CIV IV and V and Pirates and give the rest away,as a lot still need the xcom dlc.

I'm not sure any of that matches to the point I was attempting to make, unfortunately.
Let me try and clarify a bit better-
The problem is when a base game is bought at retail.
Later, tons of DLC are released. Eventually, your only option is to spend hundreds of dollars on the individual DLCs, or to entirely rebuy the game.
Ergo, the end result for anyone with a good money sense, is to never buy [or win] base games, but to only hold out for GOTY editions.
One of the worst offenders currently is Darksiders II Deathinitive edition- if you own the base game, you can't buy the DLC individually anymore, meaning you have to buy the GOTY edition- which, of course, offers no discount for owning the base game.
Borderlands II and Civ games are pretty notorious for it as well- Civ V especially, given that many players had a very low opinion of the base game and found the expansions absolutely necessary to play it.
The fact is, the way steam and most of its developers/publishers structure purchases is a sharp contrast to how game purchases used to work, do work on GOG, and ought work if the developers respected their customers.
There's still plenty of games that offer discounts on steam based on previously owned content, and there are just a couple steam packages that give you gift copies for owned content..
Which clarifies that these are intentional decisions by the publishers involved
Payday 2 is hands down the worst example of publisher greed, for two reasons:
Payday 2's developers unfortunately are less focused on "what can we release to make our game better," and more on "what can we do to get as much money out of our customers as possible."
Of course, that's true for all the developers/publishers mentioned.
Regardless of how functional you find the structure, or unbothered you are by it, it's still reflective of a certain mindset that many consumers don't care for.
GOG's structure is objectively better for consumers (in the long run you may actually pay a lot less on certain games- though in fairness, most of the games doing this sort of thing aren't available on GOG in the first place :P), and reflective of a much more consumer-oriented mindset.
The tiered purchase keys suck, but it's an anti-abuse measure, you can at least acknowledge the reasons for it. The problem is when it's not made clear that the tiers are combined keys beforehand, since, after all, the topic here is publisher deception in sales.
Otherwise it's fine..
Though the games offered for this particular one are just kinda wince-worthy for the structure.

I already paid for the february bundle to get Alien Isolation in advance. So the next time I'll pay for a bundle will be end of february/beginning of march.
But the coupon "expires the 18th of february".
Comment has been collapsed.
You'll be able to pay for the next Monthly bundle early, remember?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes I can do that. But they could have just pushed it to the 31st feb and done all that automatically for people who have subscribed.
10% is $1,2. For this dollar, I'll have to unsubscribe from the Monthly Bundle (otherwise there's a risk that they'll charge me for a second one), buy the Bundle before the 18th, then wait till march to subscribe again. Or I do nothing and I lose $1,2.
Well...
Anyway, I was stupid in the first place to subscribe.
Comment has been collapsed.
No, all you have to do is wait for the new bundle to be revealed at the beginning of February, then unsubscribe and resubscribe. You've got your $1.20 discount, and you're done.

BTW, I miss Aeon Flux. That show was so good, and nothing like it will ever exist again.

A very weird show indeed. When I show it to people who've never seen it, almost 100% of them start nose bleeding.

That's pretty much a dick move...
I hope I'm wrong, but I think they will dump a shitty monthly bundle for the March one, just because this 10% discount needs to be used by many, so February early-purchasers will most likely buy the March bundle.
Again, I hope I'll be wrong. I waited to pay for the Februrary bundle -I'm glad I did, now-, even though I'm sure I'll buy it (Alien Isolation alone is worth more than 12 bucks). But I can understand if people will complain with HB for this.
They just... could've made a bundle with this discount instead of a 2-weeks break.
Comment has been collapsed.
They changed the terms so that you don't have to do anything to get the discount:
"NOTE: Expires on March 4th, 2016 at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Eligible for both new and current subscribers. Payment will be applied on the first payment for new subscribers and on the next month's payment for current subscribers."

Perfect.
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.
Heh heh he he he...

Yup, I just tried it by buying tier 1 ('cause I'll pay a dollar to try XCOM). That is seriously dumb. I understand the logic behind it, stops people from selling on the games they don't want, and thus boosting the cheaper alternative market.

So, what's predictions about games that possibly can be revealed in next week unlocks?

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Firaxis%20Games
theres a list of the Firaxis games on steam :D

Then this bundle is completely worthless for me, already have most of BTA and all unlocks, and without separate keys i can't create giveaways for my repeats. Good games, shitty deal
Comment has been collapsed.
I dont only have Elite Soldier Pack and Slingshot Pack so NOPE tier for me. But i you didnt buy XCOM yet i promise you for 1 dollar its damn worth it.

What on earth is this? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Was really hoping for an indie bundle :( And what do I get instead? XCom that was free! :@
