It's a really nice game and although you don't need to play the other bioshock games to understand it, I am going to beat the first two before I finish infinite.
The dlcs will probably just add some nice new vigors, a couple of new guns and I guess some small side missions.
Oh and I spent only around a few hours on it. Overall it's a great game.

This!
I heared a lot of awesome things about this game! Because of this I bought it a few days ago, but before I play it I'll beat the first and the second game! (Like I'll do with Hitman, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell and so on.)

I thought it was average. Gameplay was the standard affair for the series just with less weapons at a time. Graphics hurt my eyes, too much crappy post-processing caked on to try and cover up ridiculously low-poly models and textures which range from mediocre to abysmal. Plot was somewhat interesting for a time, ending was the most godawful piece of crap I've ever seen in any game ever. Worse than ME3. It's still a solid 7.5, which is somehow lower than the lowest review score for the game (most of which are giving the game either a perfect score or something extremely close). It's on the fast track to being the most overrated game of all time.

Same here, the beginning and ending is mindblowing. However, the middle part is quite boring. Very few side missions, no hacking or several addon like fighting with a sub-boss (like Big Daddy) or protecting Elizabeth like we used to do with little sister. Only shooting and shooting.
But still 9.5/10 from me because simply it is bioshock :)

GOTY 2013 no questions :P
Spent 20h on hard 1st play and 26h in 1999 mod on 2nd. Enough talk, time to play again. ;)

Reviews and high ratings are still only a matter of personal opinions, biased or non biased. This anyway, provoked all the people who isn't in love with it as much as others to consider this the most overrated game this year.
I personally would like to see more deep stories that were never told, explain, or covered in the main game on the dlc's. Maybe also something like playing the Letuces pre Columbia?

i love this fucking game, the ending is AOFNWAONFOVIEQAwmponfcN

This is why you troll the other 364 days of the year.

Took me about 12 hours to finish my first playthrough. Taking my time on my second.
I think the DLC's will be substantial, considering there's no multiplayer and no way to really expand on the existing singleplayer. Not to mention the game was said to have been wittled down from several games worth of content. I think this game will be a model for what DLC should be, kind of like Rockstar's penchant for standalone story expansions.

After few hours playing it at friends, I find it to have very poor gameplay (really, when it comes to technicals, even CoD IS better... - but I guess making same thing for those 7? years gives you good knowledge which things are working right, what to improve and what to throw away). It's kinda sad they promise you BIG and GREAT city, without giving you a chance to really explore it, just run towards next checkpoint. If it weren't for story, this probably would be Aliens 2...

Are you really going to tell me CoD looks worse than this ?
Are you going to tell me Elizabeth playing SAME animation for whole game, over and over again, is better than CoD?
Are you going to tell me killing clones of same enemies in SAME rooms is better than CoDs no-clones-in-same-room policy?
Yes, those are technicals. And yes, CoD is better in them.

Ok, I love Call of Duty, but your argument that there are no clones in the same room is ridiculous. Hell almost every enemy soldier in Modern warfare is a carbon copy. Prettyo much the only semi-non-clones are soldiers without helmets or uniforms and even then there are still awhole lot of clones. And yes, Elizabeth is much more enjoyable to watch than a bunch of dudes sitting around talking or standing still scratchng their heads and balls. As for the little texturing on that plant, I've seen about the same in Call of duty with their foliage. And at least you can go almost everywhere you see in Colombia, not just down one or two roads that aren't blocked by cars or debris

Maybe not the exact same face, but the same three or four faces for those soldiers. Seriously, out of thousands of character models, only like ten or fifteen are even unique. The rest are rehashes of the same three or four guys. And yes, the pretty face is more appealing because it's more expressive. She looks around, frowns, smirks, yes shes hides and crouches constantly, but again it's a lot more expressive than standing still with your gun pointed up, battle stance, scratching head/balls/ass. Yeah, I'd take Bioshock's technicals over CoD any day.

it's a funny comment, Call of Duty is the same game over and over and over and over and over again year after year.. your argument is invalid..
Bioshock Infinite at least has an amazing/original environment and design, and like jbrown87 said.. Call of Duty uses the same soldiers with just different permutations, but there are a few permutations because of the level you are playing..
anyway, you can't compare a NOOB game like Call of Duty with Bioshock: Infinite..

Playing games for graphics is like watching p0rn for the story. Hard, but true.

Right? What they can make? I mean, 3 new story DLC's... no idea.
Maybe Booker's life/jobs before he went to Columbia? But it would be weird since it wouldn't be in Columbia.
Remember that voxophones right next to hats though? There was this one guy on the voxophone, like a cowboy and he always left dead bodies, a voxophone and his hat on the "crime scenes". Maybe one DLC will be about him. It's just my theory/idea.

Btw if you really played bioshok just before starting infinite, you would be amazed how they remade starting point of bioshok to the ending point of infinite. Same spot. You started bioshock from left batiscaf port, and ended with right batiscaf port. This feeling was amazing.

SPOILERS
I thought the ending was cool, but at the same time I thought the idea of making it so Comstock never existed was goofy and didn't make sense in a game with multiple timelines (obviously, all you've done is create another timeline where he doesn't exist.) Suddenly magically changing it so you can erase something from all timelines (by taking an action in one of them?) felt like it was changing the rules in a nonsensical way for the sake of drama, even if the setup was cool.

This helps a bit I f'n love minutephysics
Many worlds theory of quantum mechanics
Think of it as removing the original point from which they branch, thus, every subsequent branch doesn't exist. Booker never becomes Comstock, thus, no Comstock's anywhere.

although honestly we've gotten abstract enough that it's not really that spoilery anymore
But that's nonsensical. The whole point of the many-worlds theory is that everything branches. All you can do by acting is create branches, never eliminate branches. If you reach back and remove something that served as the "branch point" for two existing worlds, you're just creating another branch to a third world, while the two worlds you were trying to eliminate continue to exist as worlds where you didn't take that action.
It's impossible to change the past under a many-worlds theory, because it already happened. Even with the ability to step back in time or alter any world at any point (which is what Elizabeth has), you still can't ever erase a world from existence, certainly not by stepping into it and taking an action there (which is what was shown.) If you go back in time and kill your grandfather, you don't create a paradox, because you've simply forced the world to branch from that point -- there still exists a world where he survived (it's the one you came from.)
No matter what you do, you can't eliminate the world where Comstock existed, because that already happened -- with the powers described in the story up until that point Elizabeth is only capable of creating (or, more properly, exploring) new worlds, not erasing ones that already exist. She can create a world with no Comstock, but she can't eliminate the possibility of any world without Comstock, because that world already exists and is therefore a certainty.

I have to say that I enjoyed this one better than the first minus the weapon limit and casual shield regenerator, officially the best sequel to a game (Not counting BioShock 2) and one of the best shotters I've ever played for years.
As for the ending, it was a better ending than any game has had for the new era of gaming, I wasn't surprised that there was going to be a twist.

My 5770 can handle it. Your PC is the one that can't handle it. Upgrade your video card, possibly your CPU as well. Time for another 'what should I upgrade' forum post, eh?
