Just joined a couple of hours ago and am really excited and grateful for such sweet opportunities, but I'm now a little nervous. I entered into some giveaways before coming across one that said something along the lines of "This should be common sense, but post a comment when you enter or else I will blacklist you and if you win I will reroll."

Now, I read the FAQ as soon as I made my account and I didn't remember seeing anything about this, and even after checking it again, I notice it says "Extraneous/special rules for giveaways require moderator approval. Public giveaways cannot have any special rules." So now I'm just confused and nervous.

I'm sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, but I honestly just don't know. Is it customary or expected to comment when entering a giveaway? I'm more than willing to drop a thank you when I enter, I just wanted to clear up whether it was a mandatory thing or not.

Thanks in advance for the help.

If it's a private giveaway then there can be rules. Public giveaways can't.

Just one of the many many trolls on the site. If they don't deliver, just mark them as not sent when ya can.

I'm getting sick of all these public giveaways having "rules" in the description.
If you see such a giveaway, please report it by creating a support ticket.

Can we also report "winner needs to add me on Steam" crap?

The above two are correct.

The only cases where a creator can reroll/appeal a win is when:
1) the winner already has the game
2) the winner has parts of the game pack
3) the winner is suspended/banned at the time of winning
4) the winner is unreachable to claim the win within 7 days
5) the winner harasses the creator (the suggested etiquette is to wait at least 24 hours before contacting the creator; I personally believe in waiting the full 7 days and allowing the creator the liberty to do as they please)
6) the winner rejects the win
7) super extraneous cases that I don't know of

Private/group giveaways can have custom rules as long as they were pre-approved by Support.
These rules have to be easily measureable but can range from simple rules such as "comment to enter" to more complex rules such as "must have 30.01 contribution or higher, 0 wins, 1+ expected wins, 3mo+ on SG, AND 1yr+ Steam account to enter".
A very common rule used by members in private giveaways is blacklisting. The usage of blacklists must be pre-approved and all blacklisted names must be visibly posted in the giveaway prior to being posted. A person can blacklist you for anything though, even for not commenting on a public giveaway if they're so inclined to make a gigantic blacklist. Should you win a private giveaway you're blacklisted in, the creator may reroll.

I think that covers most bases. Enjoy your stay.

You don't need to but it's always nice to do. (It's nice to be that 5% of people that actually say thanks.)

I'm surprised no one said it below. But they can say that, however because it's a public giveaway, they can't get it rerolled for that reason, because you can't have rules on public giveaways. However (if the person has an approved blacklist already) they can put you on blacklist.

Though black listing people in a public giveaway would take a lot of effort lol. Since there are 500+ entries in most of them.

Anyways. Welcome to the site. :p
