Soooo...

I recently bought a new intel processor and I got a coupon(intel starter pack) with some games (GRID2 Steam Key, Civ5, Total War: Rome 2).

I am not a big fan of those games so I wanted to trade them on steamtrades.

A guy wanted to offer me 20$ for Total War : ROME 2, I was really happy. Since he had more positive reviews, I gave him the key... he said it was used, I tried the key and it said it was used (The guy has 59 positive reviews, 0 negative reviews). I checked the guy's profile, he doesn't have the game so he didn't steal it from me (i think)...he could have activated it on another account tho.

I activated the GRID2 on my account, to check if all the coupon is "invalid" and the grid key worked...i'm not sure for the civ5 key tho.

What do you guys think I should do?

Call the company that gave you the coupon.

Well, I think he scammed you by using an alt account for trading, how many games did he have on his account?

He had like 90 games.

Hmm, that is not a lot of games, but it doesn't mean it's a fake account.

Did you get your steam key from intel's site, or from the box your processor came in? Maybe it's not a steam key at all, nvidia for example gives you a key which you have to redeem on their site and then they email you a steam key for the game, maybe it's the same with intel.

he said the key was used after the "trade", so I guess it is a steam key

Yeah, you're right... It was probably a scam then.

they all are steam keys:) but you get the steam keys after entering a "master" key on a intel site

I redeemed it from intel site...

On the coupon was 1 "master" key, you write that on starterpack.intel.com/romania and you get the keys for the games there.

Maybe contact intel and ask them if they can revoke the key and give you a new one? It's a long shot, but you have the proof of ownership.

You already have an account on their site I'm guessing, so just head over to - http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport > Select your product: Program Services & Software and ask them if they can replace the code for TW:R2

I don't know how sensitive they are to trade scams over at intel, so I am not sure if you should tell them the real story, or make up something else. :P

After I select Program Services & Software I only get

-McAfee

-USB 3.0

-Intel® vPro™ technology

-Intel® Anti-Theft Service

-Intel® Small Business Advantage

-Intel® Cloud Services Platform

-Intel® Cache Acceleration Software

so there's no coupon,cdkey category... :(

Well I don't have an intel account so I didn't go deeper into it, but it's really stupid of them not to have an "other products" option under support.

Try posting your issue in one of the other support topics, and when they answer you, tell them what's up and they should point you in the right direction. At least that's what I would do.

It would appear that you have found yourself in quite a pickle here...

I recommend jumping off a bridge with a broken parachute.

Don't give keys to people until you have the money. Trust no one, ever. You failed to know this why?

I did not fail to know this man. Steamtrades works this way: the one with less positive reviews gives the money/key/gift first. He has +59/0, and I only had +2/0. How could he trust to give me 20$ if I only have +2/0 ?

Oh ha. I would never use that site. Maybe it's my own problem not being able to trust anyone but at least this won't happen to me. XD

One day I knew all the risks of trusting this person and then I thought maybe this one time because I really need to make this deal he will not jack me. WRONG- JACKED.... Never again.

If you are a good judge of character and are able to restrain yourself from doing "too good to be true" trades, you will not get scammed, because scammers are not smart people, trust me I know.

It's always tricky to trade with keys, but you should be able to expect that the key worked since it came in a sealed package. Therefore I think you were scammed sadly.
