It will take about 2 weeks for it to dissappear.

this happens during free weekends. you'll have to wait until the free weekend is over plus some (and then sync SG acct). and i've found that if you actually played the free weekend, it takes longer to leave your account (sucks, since people that actually try it are more likely to want and play the giveaway game)

First, wait for the free week to end.
Second, wait two weeks after the end of the free week.
Third, enter giveaways.

First, it's not a bug.
Second, if you wanted to enter giveaways for a free weekend game, you should have synced just a day before the free weekend.

Yes, I am sure SG saying a game that he does not own exists in his library thus preventing him to win it because it thinks he already owns it is not a bug in this case.

SG gets the data straight from Steam, so it's not a bug since Steam did put it in his library for the duration of the free week.

You seem like a wikipedia person:
"A software bug is an error, flaw, failure, or fault in a computer program or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes it to behave in unintended ways." - Wikipedia, Definition of a (Software) bug.

This is a bug on SG, because it refuses you to win a game you do not own, the whole point of SG is to win games you don't own, not win games that aren't in your library.
The bug is merely the product of inaccurate scanning, because it is only able to identify games in your library, not games owned.

So the bottom line is, that winning a game you do not own is not possible with these special parameters (free weekend game, sync account while having it in library) and is if you ask me a bug and not a desired feature.

And you mean to say there's a way of actually checking who's part of the free weekend? If you got a way to, then feel free to talk about it. Else please just keep quiet, you're just embarrassing yourself.

You are starting to get very defensive, that's good. It means I'm probably in the right here.

I have never claimed knowing about a way to fix the bug, all I am saying is it is a bug.
We are having a discussion, an argument here (in case you've forgotten).
You are saying it's not a bug, while I am saying it is a bug because the outcome is not the one we desire.

And I clearly said that it isn't an SG bug. All SG does is get the data from Steam, so any faults would lie there.

you have to wait two weeks if you played it on the free weekend and synced.

I usually let sg auto sync every week
