So many people on this forum are infatuated by trains and doing forum invite-only giveaways around them. I think I want to give it a try as well.
So, if you like trains, you can try your luck here! (No SGTools.) Good luck! ^_^

So, everybody here loves trains, right?

No, we don't. Specially not the ones that have 300 cars and are filled mostly with shovelware. Gladly that doesn't apply here.
Charts FTW.

300 cars… that is a lot. I think I never made one over 50 cars even in OpenTTD, where you can remove the length limitation in the cheat options.

I think the worst one I've seen here on SG had roughly 1000 cars and I gave up clicking after the first 150 cars were exclusively from BundleStars Dollar Bundles.

Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe ? I think I downloaded that once but never really got into it because I was intimidated by the complexity.

It is a good tycoon game, but since it lacks in-game tutorials, it is the old kind of game where you must just learn it by trying and failing constantly. Still, nobody ever managed to make anything remotely close to it since then, even though some tried (Transport Fever).

I do like complex games but sometimes I give up on old games too easy. Same story for Dwarf fortress or that lovely Maniac Mansion fan remake.

Well, not knowing how old the referred train was, but there's the ESGST Giveaway Extractor for a while now (just in case you don't know it yet).

I think that was before the train extractor but I'm not completely sure. It's a great feature although I don't use it very often.

+1 It used to be amusing when we first discovered them, but once peeps started doing a train galore with dozens upon dozens... I started loving charts.

Thanks, Talgaby. :)

I must say I never really got into Locomotion; Transport Tycoon (Deluxe) was just much easier/better in many respects. And nowadays we have OpenTTD, etc.

I do, on occasion, dream of a brand new TTD game with full modding, a complete tunnel system with turns and switches, light rail, etc. If I ever win the lottery I might look for a game studio to create this pipe dream. :D

It's kind of sad, but not surprising, to see so many entries over they last 23 hours but not a single Bump.

I learnt long ago that these threads rely on self-bumps quite often. But if the community does not want to keep mine threads alive, I am not going to force it.
Consider it an ongoing perpetual social experiment to see how much the forum-goers care. :)

I've tested this a few times and the results are always the same. Just like pretty much everything else here on SG getting your threads bumped mostly depends on alliances.

I actually don't like trains, never quite understood the appeal of them aside from the first few times someone did it (it was a new, interesting concept). I think it's a decent idea to hide a really nice game behind some bundled scraps so that some effort is necessary in order to find a good giveaway, but that is rarely the case - Plus, there are far better ways to do just that.

...oh, it was a rhetorical question? :P

From personal experience, I'd have to say planes are far superior to trains.
