I have to admit I don't even get it in this context.
But the Nazi speech a certain user always gives every time this topic is brought up never gets old. It gets more entaining every time I hear it :) Sadly the person bringing it up this time isn't even german which makes the speech less relevant but I doubt that will stop him :D

Oh it has nothing with that, it's an economy thing with Greece practically "leeching" from Germany due to its bad economy. However it's highly inaccurate since Germans(and other parties of the EU) are actually profiting from all the loans they provide along with IMF and the ECB.
The unfortunate part of the whole situation is that Greeks are now perceived as lazybums that just leech off of others' money while it's an issue of horrible management on an administrative level instead. All that while the general population is paying their taxes regularly, work 10 and 12 hour shifts with no overtime(and that's for the ones that actually are employed full time and not part-timers off the table) etc etc

I get the joke portrayed on the Polandball comic (don't find it particularly funny though, if anything I find the situation worrying) I just don't see how it fits this particular situation. Well, the international press certainly didn't help with that perception since they plastered stuff like the "Being at work on time bonus" for goverment employees all over the newspapers.

Germany take 90% of what they put into the EU back out in rebates anyway. Don't believe the hype.

I was pleasantly surprised. there have been at least a dozen "giveaways" of 3* GTA V that were all started around the same time, and before, all to promote some youtuber, and none of which paid out.

Breaking news: People are assholes.

Steamgifts is no different from the rest of the world. Lot of people pretend or think they are "good", but then, ironically, don't even allow the chance to other to do nice things. Really, let's think about it; Steamgifts, a website about giving away games without a single reason and for nothing in return, and then some people go around completely doubting them for doing exactly that.

Pretty disappointing to see some people I know act that way, too.

It all breaks down to the power you give to a man, when you let him post about the things going on in his mind, and do so with impunity knowing that he can hide behind a monitor. That's the real nature of the internet: we all learn some decency IRL because it is shown as good etiquette, but on the internet nobody knows that you're secretly a cat and nobody can restrict you from saying whatever you wish to.

It was about a month ago. New user with 3 copies of GTA V and a lot of hate on their YouTube channel before the giveaway has finished.

People being assholes for no reason but to be assholes isn't anything of special note, unfortunately. Bad enough breaking SG rules and making claims against the validity of the giveaway on-site, but spamming the youtube page (presumably to avoid SG suspensions and just to put full effort into being a dick, over doing something productive) is.. unfortunate.

On the flip side, there've been so many 2-3 copy GTAV giveaways by new users that didn't pan out, that suspicion toward giveaway validity is certainly warranted [even if the conduct is not]. Of course, it's so very easy to just ignore the giveaways, and since nothing but ephemeral SG 'points' are lost by the existence of the giveaways, there's no merit in bothering with them for any other reasons.. :/

I gave away GTA V and Fallout 4 at the same time once. Luckily it was Whitelist only and I didn't get all that hate or the accusations (though I got some from a couple of people lol). I am sorry that guy had to endure this. Such a shame. It's not like anyone loses anything from entering a giveaway, real or not.

Now I want to play GTA V, thanks guys....

Ironically, because there were so many fake ones, there is a much higher probability of a real one :) It pays to believe. I never get why people make fake giveaways to promote their channel, unless it was a troll, not like you HAVE to sub(or stay subbed) to win, there are so much more cons than pros in that scenario.

I think usually people just forget they've subscribed something :P I do :P

Comment has been collapsed.

I mean the ratio of fake to legit ones is still undoubtedly in favor of the fake ones.

Ppl keep making some popular game GA , asking you to follow their social media and sub YouTube for better chances n stuff .
And worse part is a lot of ppl think that is that case .

There was that guy that made few CSGO giveaways, asking ppl to go to a gleam page which required you to sub his YouTube for another giveaway .
Every single giveaway got deleted b4 it ended , but the dude got like 200subs from that little promotion he did on his shitty channel .

The worse part is there ware dozens of comments saying they subscribed , and asking how they get their extra entries....

So yeah props to that guy for his 3 copyk GTA giveaway , his YouTube is still pretty bad tho, and his content is just........
Like it has everything to make you not take it serious , betting sites , reuploads of other ppl content , ALL CAPS on every tittle , video title ending with ?!?!?!?!?! Etc...
Not to mention trying to be edgy by spelling Fuck at his profile background....
No wonder ppl couldn't take him seriously.....

Just cause 1guy followed through and send the gifts doesn't mean a 100other won't just keep abusing with fake GAs .

Also , he can still refund the gifts :)

But I can agree that ppl should w8 for the giveaways to end b4they judge I guess.

It would be... interesting ;> If you are new user you can do up to 3 giveaways and that's it. Your journey is over. And I doubt it is worth it to sign up for SG with different alt accounts worth $100,especially nowadays :P

Also , he can still refund the gifts :)

I'm pretty sure he can't just do that. I think Steam has some kind of system in place where the user that redeemed the gift has to agree or something (it's been a while since I read that, so can't remember exactly how it's handled).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Um you are completely wrong here tho,

I bough a gta V gift couple months ago , and it just got refunded 24h later with no warning :)

If you issue refund on the payment from the bank , the gift can be refunded .

IF you do it to many times , it may be an issue ...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

that doesn't make them wrong though, they did say "steam has some kind of system..." which is accurate information. you are completely bypassing steam and going straight to the bank though which certainly will work, but it doesn't make anything they said inaccurate either.

tl;dr - you're both right! xD

Yeah my bad here , you cant just ask Steam to Refund it , but you can refund the money put in the account , so then they Will remove the games from whoever activated those gifts accounts .

If you do that to many times tho , there ware consequences i think

of course not all, to assume that would be dumb, but a lot of those accounts never make it out of lvl 0, or maybe they do one freebie game to hit lvl 1, just look at the winners, i took a look at the winners of my first GAs made here that were level 0-2, its just sad, multiple wins, or they didnt activate, etc etc. many people have alt accounts racking up wins (i have had a few of my GAs end up with a winner and his alt account as a winner and had to have it rerolled, imagine an email like superman9001@gmail.com and superman9002@gmail.com, pretty stupid). i cant see myself giving away GTA V to a possible reseller, no ty

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, i can't argue with that. Just think though, that "trash pit" dwelling user could become the next extremely generous user. I have heard some people like to test the waters, so to speak, and try their luck at winning before they decide if it is worth their investment of time and money here.

I wouldn't want a giveaway of mine to go to a potential regifter\reseller either but i also wouldn't give an expensive one that could potentially go to someone who could get it for A LOT cheaper than I did, hence level and region restrictions.

Permalink

Their games are cheaper because they have no money, are you really that naïve. It's NOT a lot cheaper for them, it's cheaper for you. It's actually far more expensive for them than a game would ever cost you.
