I watched the movie and it's one of Eastwood's worst woes as a director/movie maker. It's not very good as a movie and it's pure propaganda since it's almost entirely fictional while claiming not to be. The real American Sniper was a hate-filled killer. Why are simplistic patriots treating him as a hero?.

You don't know either if the film was real, but the film and the informations you can find about Kyle are VERY different.
From the four types of people I can understand just one: Money.
There is no point in keeping up bad tradidions,
Where patriotism goes you can see if you look at the GOP.
Legally like killing people is just stupid.
And defending the country is part of the job. Sure, you have to like your country to go to the military. But being a soldier doesn't make you a hero automatically.

According to his profile, he's not even from the US, which goes to show how effective propaganda really can be. But anyway, from his replies, seems like a blatant troll at this point.

He is none. Unfortunately he is a brainwashed brazillian that recently got spoon fed with american propaganda, and uses the word "patriot" without fully understanding what that implies. Just ignore him. The far-right in brazil is like a bunch of people that acts and talk like Alex Jones.

Unfortunately, the far-right in Brazil tried to co-opt the word "patriot" (the first word he used to attack me in the World Cup thread) and for a while, even co-opted the national soccer team jersey. I'm so glad the country eventually reclaimed the jersey as a sign of love for the country, and not only a sign of right-wing protest

I agree. It seems like we are back to 1930's with the return of Brazilian Integralism on the horizon. People that fought for our freedom was labeled as "terrorists", and torturer and killers are "heroes" Receiving awards and sh#t on the current government.

why should I vote for someone that has been 20+ years inactive as a politician, bitching about corruption while in the background all of his family got a job by abusing the system and nepotism?
Why should I vote for someone that has explicitly said that one of his heroes is a brazillian terrorist like Ustra?
All of this because of a imaginary "red threat" that was "imminent" even tho it wasn't even close to be a "threat" considering that they was killing anyone that wouldn't be a part of their scheme. This is what the Far-right on brazil does. Bolsonaro manage to revive this BS again. You should be ashamed of yourself! You're 30+ years old. The next generation will have to deal with a lot of bs because of people like you.

thanks for proving my point about the brazillian far-right and america's propaganda in our country.

Usually a thread has a title and then all the relevant information in the main post at the top of the page. Then people post comments below the main topic to have discussions. It is your thread, so I guess you can do it how you want, but it just seems a little odd to create an empty thread that just says "none" and then start posting the information you want people to see in comments.

Seemingly continueing (even further) below this seems to just be the odd person.
Also on his profile:
A good soldier doesn't see the enemy as human, when he does, he stops being a good soldier which is sad but it is the cruelty of war. They are just targets, nothing more.

I don't need your "permission", noone here does replying to you, the same as you dont need "permission" to post this junk / continuous spam.
War is not like that, war is many civilian casualities, soldiers coming home with PTSD, originally known as Shell Shock, because they realize what they done and feel the sorrow when they come home (not to mention coming home with physical injuries), war is usually just a play of power hungry presidents.
Have you ever been a soldier in real life? No, playing a bunch of Counter Strike or watched some Hollywood movie hardly makes you the expert.

I think the only moderation needed would be to move the discussion to off topic. I don't think the creator was bumping the thread to keep it at the top since it was just created. That is more of an issue when someone keeps bumping their own discussion day after day or week after week to get people to notice it and other users are not interacting. That just becomes spam because the community is not interested in it. It seems like this user just doesn't understand that it makes sense to put the main topic information at the start of the discussion to keep things organized.
I don't think we should limit what can be talked about either. I don't think there is anything wrong with talking about almost any topic as long as users can stay calm and not attack eachother. I personally try to stay away from most of the drama, but I think it should be allowed for those that want to discuss those topics.

I'm fine with actual freedom of speech so I don't think we should moderate topics either. I just meant it's the new catchphrase for "no moderation, no rules" these days.
I think we're already at the spam point when over half the "posts" in a thread with no OP are from the original poster though.

That the autojoiners write 100x/day a automatic "thanks" message aren't seen as spam and get not punished. So good luck with someone get a suspension on sg (not liked from a mod is a different story with the suspension [then you don't need to break rules to get a suspension]....).

I don't know him but I guess he was just a sniper professional killer?

Once again, after a long time, I get to see a stupid troll on a discussion page. I forgot that such crap exist on Internet as I mostly visit SG community and avoid other social sites.
I think this post has got much more traction than was requiredm
Some mod please lock this already?

Kyle stated that during Hurricane Katrina, after hearing about the civilian strife in the area, he and another man drove to New Orleans to stop "looters." With sniper rifles, they allegedly traveled to New Orleans and then positioned themselves at a vantage point on top of the city's Mercedes-Benz Superdome. There Kyle claimed they started shooting a number of armed residents or looters, whom they identified as making trouble. Some reports stated that Kyle shot 30 with the other sniper, and others said he shot 30 by himself. This was never verified, and there was no evidence of dozens of people being slain by a sniper or gunman, with commentary noting that it would be unlikely that 30 people would have been murdered without anyone noticing it or reporting it to the media or the police. Kyle's story had been reported in a number of publications, including the New Yorker, with Kyle relating the story to other military personnel
Sounds like a real role model alright
