So, just today I got my first scammer and impersonator!!! Look at this photo:

http://postimg.org/image/z1u8ji2cb/

Seriously... These guys should stop existing... He has a private profile, AND is 1 level... And he thinks I will be tricked...

In that image you can see the impersonator's account, both in steam and in a website, as well as the real guy's account and the ST link the impersonator gave me, which redirected to the real guy's account.

By the way, I hope that I didn't call someone out.. I mean, I just showed an impersonator... If this is also not allowed... Then tell me.

P.S. About the chat... I just wanted to have some fun, so since I have a name that has to do with an animal, I thought it would be funny to do that. lol...

P.S.2... I am talking about reporting him on steam trades, and how to find his steam trades account.

Report him to Steam support and Steamrep. Also you can make a thread about that at steamtrades and report him to support here and use this to find out his profile here.

Don't call out users, remove the profiles both on steam and steamtrades and remove his name from the chat, you can get suspended too

Why is it stupid, this isn't steamrep, why doesn't everyone post images of everyone that ever scammed them, that would be a great thing for this forum, wouldn't it? Also even if you think its stupid its still a site rule that everyone needs to follow equally, so he should follow it too. I just pointed it out so he wouldn't get suspended without doing anything significant wrong, personal choice if he wants to keep the image as it is

Correct my if I am mistaken but I don't think this is calling out. We only have the ID of the person that gets impersonated. MengCrap didn't do anything wrong and nobody should judge him for getting impersonated. We have no clue what the impersonators real ID is.

How is it any better if hes publicly announcing the name of a person that didn't do anything wrong? Also we can easily find the impersonator by using search, which we shouldn't have info for

It is completely different. It is not calling out to simply mention another user. And it is not calling out simply to make it possible to find the bad user.

I believe it is calling out even if a person gets mentioned. And if you think its not calling out to point out a bad user either, what do you think is calling out, cause the way i see it, by your definition, nothing is calling out

In my opinion it's calling out if you identify the user. It's not done here. Would you say it's calling out if I post a topic "Be careful, I have an impersonator"? In the end it's up to the staff. ^^

Did you see the image, he identified both of them. But i agree that it is up to the staff in the end :)

I am always willing to admit I made a mistake, but all I can see is "MengCrap". How do you identify the impersonator besides searching for the name? Since it's the nature of impersonators to have the same name you would be calling out even if you just say "MengCrap has an impersonator.".

Agreed, but its too easy to find the impersonator imo, i think he should remove both their names as this isn't the place to report things like that, if he posts that same image at steamtrades or steamrep, where its allowed, thats not a problem. That said, i don't think you made a mistake, you might just look at it differently :)

Okay, I thought I have overlooked some pixels containing an ID. :P

By the way: "How is it any better if hes publicly announcing the name of a person that didn't do anything wrong?"
Easy to explain, we do it all the time when talking to each other. ^__^ Hereby I announce your username: Pandryl! See, nothing wrong with it. Just kidding, have a nice day. :)

How can you think that ("even if a person gets mentioned"). People mention other people all the time, as long as the post is not about how this other person is a evil/bad/stupid, it is not Calling Out.

I think that pointing out another person in whichever manner can be seen as calling out. In this case he is in a way connected to a scammer so i would feel its calling out when posted in a place it doesn't belong to, yes

http://www.steamtrades.com/user/id/<his Steam id>

example: http://www.steamtrades.com/user/id/76561198025964972

You should report him to steamrep.com - reporting him on steamtrades is pretty useless.

They are not registered on Steam Gifts or Steam Trade. It seems like a throw-away account.

EDIT: They only have one friend and that person is on Steam Gifts/Trade. I'm guessing that they must at least know the person.

"I am an animal, not a human, I can never get tricked"? Wut?

First thing to do is to report him on Steamrep using the acceptable format to avoid any trouble. Then report him on Steamtrades here.

Also if you want to, create a thread on Steamtrades with the title "Scammer. Impersonator of "name of the user being impersonated": http://steamcommunity.com/id/**"steamID64 of the impersonator"**. That way anyone using the search tool or google can find him by name and/or ID.

You can also report them to steam by going to their profile > clicking more > report violation > Impersonating another user
