Probably not many will care about it but here are the news.

The new-look system is based on a bedroom of an early nineties SEGA fan with dynamic time-of-day conditions, retro SEGA >paraphernalia, a shelf full of MEGA Drive games (including the ones you own) and of course a CRT TV! That’s not all, every single MEGA >Drive game will now feature Steam Workshop support allowing you to share modified versions of your favourite retro SEGA titles!

In addition to these new features, the new SEGA Mega Drive hub also includes:

spot-on emulation
local co-op for games that support it
optional graphic enhancement filters
the ability to save at any point in the gameplay
full controller / keyboard support

The Classic Sonic games are not listed as available for it, but they show up on the video.

Games available here:
SEGA Genesis Classics Pack includes:

  • Altered Beast
  • Comic Zone
  • Crack Down

New pack SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics

Includes the content of the 5 packs + Sonic Games + Toejam and Earl games

(Thanks to DeltaBladeX for the info here on the games included)

Update: SEGA Europe posted on twitter that the Steam Workshop will allow people to share custom ROMs. I'm guessing they'll have some kind of control to not allow normal copyrighted ROMs but still great news.

Update 2: Packs are on sale right now. The SEGA Genesis Classics Collection includes the first 4 packs and costs around the same as 3 packs so if you're buying the first 4 packs it would be cheaper to buy this pack.

Update 3: There's a new pack called SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics. Includes the content of the 5 packs + Sonic Games + Toejam and Earl games.

That pack is missing 10 games and the Sonic games. They're also available as 5 packs, like this one: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4838/

They've been on sale on Amazon a few times in packs, maybe you own them from there?

What kid had all their all their games that neatly put up on shelves? I hope they put in a way to randomly throw the games all over the room, for realism. ;P

Very cool! I own them all and told myself I'd give all 5 packs away. So far I've given 3 of the 5, so it seems this may be a good time to give the other two if I can round them up. :)

Nice :) Hori has been making great controllers for decades now. I have a Hori Fighting Commander for PC-Engine from early 1990's that I still use as my preferred controller, as well as a Fighting Stick Multi from the same era (works on SNES, Sega & PC-Engine).

I have a PC-Engine Duo w/ a Turbo Everdrive and still play it regularly. :) As well as all the other 8-bit & 16-bit consoles... except for Neo-Geo, that's too expensive. :)

For computer games I have an Xbox360 controller & a PS4 controller, as well as a Buffalo SNES-style USB pad and a Mayflash SNES-to-USB adapter which I can use to hook up the Hori Fighting Stick to my computer. I prefer to use a stick for shmups & fighting games, pad for everything else, basically.

I own many, yet they are spread across every pack.

I wonder how long before people add the ability to load any Genesis roms into the hub. (Not that I would use that, I have plenty of real Genesis cartridges in my closet.)

Hoping they bring these changes to the release

  • Alphabetically organised games list (right now, people use a BAT file to do so)
  • Ability to disable the second controller (Alien Storm has an additional single player mode that can't be accessed with the second controller enabled)
  • Additional games to be released (I could name a bunch of stuff I'd like to see)

Additional games to be released (I could name a bunch of stuff I'd like to see)

I'd guess they'd have to be made or at least published by Sega, but I guess there are still some Sega games missing.

Maybe they could also get to some kind of arrangement with other companies.

They already have gotten in agreements with some. Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier and Light Crusader are Treasure games, just published by Sega. We haven't seen Dynamite Headdy from them yet. McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure either, but that is less likely.

+1
Monster World IV is awesome. Moreover Sega even officially translated the ROM for the last gen consoles.

Also some Konami titles would be welcomed : Rocket Knight Adventures, Contra: Hard Corps, Castlevania: Bloodlines <3
