Oh my fucking god YES.

I've been deleting invites and deleting friends left and right lately. Spamming people on your friend list like that for your own profit is the scummiest of thing. I really wish people wouldn't stoop so low... on the other hand, I'm finally cleaning my friend list of people who I'd rather not associate with.

Yes this is a very bad thing, I see that in a giveaway, I don't care how good the game you could win is, I instantly ignore it. Even if people didn't care that you were spamming invites to them all and they all joined the group/giveaway, your odds of winning are almost nil. But no, they don't appreciate it, and I'd rather have friends than a nil chance at winning a cool game. I've even reported the group at times in the past to Valve for spamming invites.

Well, the owner needs to add the winner to send them the key.

The first time I got a group invite I felt so special, I thought it was a group for marvelous gamers such as myself and somebody finally recognized me as one worth enlisting

Same here, it went like this:

First Invite: "Oh wow, this looks like a great group full of like minded gamers. Glad insert random friend thought of me!"

Second, next day: "Oh wow, another one, from another guy! I must be getting popular or something"

Third, same day: "What the hell kind of charade is this"
