Hey,

so I used my headset for years now and it's still in working condition. But ever since the last Windows 10 Update, Windows doesn't recognize it anymore. Usually I just plugged it in and I got sound through it. That's not the case anymore.

What can I do? I tried device manager and all but it even doesn't show up there. It's not broken. I tested it on another PC.

Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance

Is the sound card working after the update?
Does the sound icon on the tray(near the clock) show up?

Sometimes for me the default speaker changes from the headset to something else, you could try looking in there to see if that's the case. Right click the speaker in the tray icon, open sound settings and check the output device

Sounds like a sound card, probably driver issue - I assume you have tried normal speakers? Is the headset USB connection or 3.5mm headjack?

EDIT: OK, USB implies it's a driver/headset software issue. As masafor said, uninstall your headset driver/software, and try again, reinstalling as necessary if Windows doesn't pickup the software automatically.

Normal speakers work just fine. I even tried the back USB ports but with no avail. But I get the audio highlight sound whenever I plug it in, if that helps.

If you use a special software for the headset then deinstall it and install it fresh.

If you use the windows drivers then look at the sound/audio options if it changed the settings to "default", if yes then set it back to the headset.

Play the appropriate BGM.
insert.
Click the speaker icon at the bottom right.
Click the sound device name.
There is a different output destination there.
Let's choose each one.

Hi, What is the headset model? If it's a gaming one and uses some third party driver with USB, have you tried uninstalling & installing the latest version of drivers? Can you check in any other PC if the headset is still working?
It might even be Windows 10 update as @courtesan above has said.

try updating the headsets software. if that doesnt work, deinstall the software and redownload it. same thing happened to me in the past. reinstallation solved it.
