I checked Alan Wake offer and saw that Alan Wake Collector Edition Extras is not on the bundle list, and it's at 90%. Would be fair to giveaway it? I'm not saying of giving 10 copies or something like that, but 1 or 2. What do you think? Could it be considered exploit?

So what if it gives CV?

You're gifting a bloody game. People who whine about that are on the wrong site.

If it's not on teh list you can't give it away and if it is on the list it's bundled so your CV is limited anyway. If you want easy CV you'll have to find something else.

I was basically asking it because when the "Total Rome War at 90%" happened people went like "THE ONES THAT GIVEAWAY MANY COPIES ARE CV WHORES", so maybe since then doing that was considered exploit.

Being a CV whore is allowed

There's a difference between exploit and things which break the rules, between being called names.

Steam deals are not exploiting. Bundle whoring is.

I don't see a reason to bundle whore since games are quickly listed as bundles xD

Wait, it's against the rules to give away large numbers of bundle keys, because it's considered "bundle whoring?" Or are you talking about something else?

I thought the purpose of the bundle list was so that wouldn't be an issue -- people who wanted to give away large numbers of bundle games simply for the sake of giving away games could do so, without making the CV system break.

If you have spare keys to give away, whatever, do it. We're past caring about that. But if you're buying bundles to give away on a constant basis, you should give them away as a whole using their own section on the giveaway list, as a gift URL, not game by game. That's what's against the rules.

I thought that bundle whoring was just bundle whoring. And exploiting would be you getting entirely free keys (from a leaked key gen / Metro Facebook promo / other really nefarious means of getting free keys...)

Then again I'm not in charge and what difference does it make however you describe it.

Eh, there's different levels of exploiting. Some think bundle whoring is, some don't. I tend to think it is.

You can't use a fixed % off as a guideline for whether a game is marked as bundle or not. Because who's to say what the cutoff percentage would be? If 90% was the cutoff, everyone would just use 85% off games to farm CV instead. If it was bumped to 85% because of that, people would use 80% off games. It would be like trying to hit a moving target.

TIL you can't hit a target if it's moving.

It's usually stuff like free keys from promos

Exactly. It's an "exploit" if you can get free keys. Then, you haven't paid anything, so you shouldn't be rewarded with CV for using up keys that other fans of the game might have gotten on their own had you not been so greedy.

you mean the entire collectors edition is not marked or just the upgrade? if the whole thing isn't mark that is somewhat exploited, that's why the Serious Sam 3 deluxe (or w/e it's called) edition was marked as a bundle since people were paying ~$2 and throwing in their indie royale keys for SS3 to get $50 CV

It's exactly the same as Phantom Ops or Crazy Machines before they were added to the bundle list. If you are honest there are very, very few people who would pay 10$ for a soundtrack, a developer commentary video and a pdf file. I'm pretty sure you give it away for the sole purpose of farming cv and not because you think it's a cool game/addon everyone should have. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that, you still give away something for free. But if CM and Phantom Ops are on the bundle list then this offer should be as well. Hard to do due to technical limitations, I know. But fair? No.

Phantom Ops and Crazy Machines were in PWYW bundles in the Indie Gala store. At maximum, they were 95% off. Alan Wake Collectors Stuff on the other hand, is only 90%. Shobo specified that he would only add non-bundle games to the bundle list if 95% off or over and easily exploitable.
