my guess is something old, batman will more than likely not be on a humble, humble normally post games from devs that need cash flow, that game is made by big gaming groups.

"humble normally post games from devs that need cash flow"

So yes, like THQ bundle. Don't know how much cash that provided for THQ, but it wasn't enough to keep them afloat.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

THQ was in the need for cash at that time

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I have a suspicion that THQ's goal was less earning the actual cash made from the bundle but generating a popularity resurgence for their IPs so they'd auction better.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That could actually be what they were thinking. Definetely not a bad idea.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Except THQ didn't want it to go to auction and were planning something different.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And what exactly were they planning? Because from where I was standing it was obvious they were sinking and nothing short of a miracle could have saved them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They were going to do a bankrupcy sale and be bought by CCG for 60 million. It would have kept them together (albiet owned) until Metro, Saints Row and Company of Heroes shipped that in theory would have rejuvenated them because the sale would have wiped any unpayable debt left over and the games were mostly completed. The people they owed money to objected, basically saying they would get more of their owed money if THQ's property (IPs, games in developement, dev teams etc etc) went to auction. The judge agreed with the creditors, THQ dissolved and went to auction instead of what they had been planning.

If THQ had gotten their way, they'd still be here.

A game with DRM on top of DRM?
lolno

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

well they're already doing some steam only, so they've left the drm free thing behind awhile ago.(for weekly bundles) so theres much less a barrier to making that jump than there used to be

That was for THQ only if I recall correctly. Two related data points is hardly the beginning of a trend.

Dzisiaj porozmawiamy o Masonach i NWO. Teraz ludzie siedzą w domach i grają, a tymczasem na ulicach wojsko i policja montuje kamery i ustawia bramki z promieniowaniem rentgena aby śledzić wszystkich. Porzućcie gry, nie dajcie się wciągnąć w nomen-omen grę Masonów i NWO. Wyjdźcie na ulicę i walczcie o wolność.

As long as the Arkham games have DRM, they'll never be in a Humble Bundle.

(i know it has 2, but if they're already cool with requiring one)

They always give DRM-free versions along side the steamRM version. At least I think they always do it.

not in the weeklies. for them it seems to be "if it already exists lets throw it in, if not meh, and we're not going out of our way to find games that have it" same with cross platform.

humble thq bundle and humble weekly tripwire were not drm free

neither are bits of the current weekly. no drm free walking dead, no drm free mac version of
hector badge of carnage, (no mac version of wallace and gromit) Its(drm free and/or crossplatform) just there if it existed prior to the bundle, and if not they didn't bother)

Darksiders
Metro 2033
Red Faction: Armageddon
Saints Row: The Third
Company of Heroes
Titan Quest
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor
