To me that would be the same as saying "why pay for a game at launch when it will be 9.99/4.99 1 or 2 years from now" the same thing happens with AAAs to some extent.
I just tend to buy only the games I want at or around launch and then wait for a price drop or sale for the other games. In today's landscape, those happen quite fast.

I do it with aaa games though :P
ridiculously high release costs, tons of dlc that really adds up....just wait for the inevitable goty version and if you're busy playing other things at the time anyway wait a bit more and get that on reduced price too.

you know, pattient is the key, and many people don't have it, I dont like Pre orders, or new games
no matter how much I wanna buy the game, I will just wait for some short of sale on him on the future.
and when it comes, I just feel the king of the world, because I know I have been waiting for him so long and I got it for almost free [low price because of the sale]
you see, I got 50 games on steam [that I actaully play] together all worth 579$
and guess for how much I got everything? for only 45$
pattient pays off, trust me, just avoid pre orders and new games, wait for sale, and never buy games on thier full price.

you could have told me that before I pre ordered GTA V...
nah, it's gonna be more dope than Heisenberg's meth

I think bundling games can often be harmful to other indie developers in the long run. Personally i've gone off buying any games that aren't in bundles because as you've said, I purchased many just for them to be 90% cheaper a month later. I guess the way I work it out now is am I going to play the game enough in the next 6 months to justify buying it at anything higher than the price of a bundle and the answer often ends up being no.

For me it depends. I do pre order only games that I think are good enough for that, and if I've saved enough to buy it. Well I had almost all games in this HIB but beated the BTA to have DRM free games to play when I want.

I pre ordered BL2 for $49.99USD (about $65NZD), that went on sale for about $15 a few times now, but thats just how it goes. Depends on whether your one of those people who just has to play it first. When all your mates are talking about it and you cant join in cause youre 'waiting a year'. By the time you get it its old news.

games like BL2 might never be included in a bundle. I still buy games like that now and then on 360. For indie games it's a totally different story.

The most issue in bundles is that they are creating a generation of spoiled buyers.

I've never been one to get games when they're brand new unless I KNOW I will get my money's worth of time and/or joy out of it. I already had most of this humble bundle because I wanted the games and didn't want to wait for the sale. In other cases I love the bundles because it gives me a cheap means to try new games.

i stopped buying games that cost over 2.49 usd over 1 year ago and it's paying off since i bought company of heroes, metro 2033, dead space, burnout paradise, mirrors edge, and crysis 2 all for 2 usd instead of 20 usd. still waiting for torchlight II to be bundled though. also humble indie bundle 9 pratically pays for itself since brutal legend, mark of the ninja, trine 2 all have steam trading cards totaling .96 usd. if the bonus games have trading cards humble bundle would be paying gamers.

TL2 is just too good to be bundled....I said that because I didn't want to feel that I might have wasted shitload of money for a 4-pack as gifts to my friends last christmas :(

1 usd = 1.66 to 2 usd steam wallet therefore there needs to be 3 additional games with steam trading cards to officially break even

As far as indie games go I never buy at full price because sooner or later there's a possibility they will be in a bundle, as for AAA games I pre order or buy at release the ones I can't wait to play, for instance I have Watch_Dogs and BF4 on pre order right now, and wait for sales on one's I'm not to sure about.

Bundles happen. What I don't like about smaller devs is how sometimes they choose to do something that make you think that buying their game at release or in preorder was not worth it - bundled or at 50% sale shortly after release - because it sucks when it seems that devs don't care about their early buyers, only about more sales (not saying they should not make bigger discounts, just wait a bit so people don't feel like they wasted their money). What I see as bad strategy is - sell preorders without beta access and make buyers wait few months for release, then 2 months after release sell it at 50% discount because of monies. This is why I don't buy games right after release.

The only Indie game I was purchasing over and over again was Fortix, and not that's in a bundle too.
Most of the games that get into a bundle I already have at that time, so yes, it does seem like I spend money like a fool. I do like to support the developers, but it feels like they are not supporting me when they bundle their games only one to six months after release.

Some I will probably only get if bundled. While others I would have no problems at all buying when they first come out or something along those lines. It mainly depends on the amount of spending cash I have for games for the month, what is available, and what is up for pre-order.
Besides that. When it comes to bundles, you know you can donate more than the minimum, not only that you can even donate more than the average too. So if you for what ever reason feel guilty about it, donate more and make sure the devs get a larger chunk.

I did donate much more than the minimum or even wayyy above the average for the first few humble bundles but then I started having almost all the BTA games and only interested in the games from the $1 tier...and the rest is history.

I bought some titles in the past that the devs knowingly put on sale just before a bundle to maximize profit like Limbo. After that I never buy indies and just wait for the bundle.
Also I wasn't gonna spend 10 euros full price for an indie anyway, when I get some great AAA releases with at least half the money . But that's just me.

MewGenics?? It looks awesomeeeeeeee, I can't wait!
See what I did there?

I've never bought tech or games within the first year of release but I'm pretty poor and other people doing that is probably what's keeping indie games around at all. When I'm gainfully employed again I'll probably be more generous, not because I care about having the latest stuff as soon as possible but to keep bread on the tables of indie devs. Its only like 10-not even 20 bucks you lose out on when they're bundled down the line anyway

It depends what you want out of a video game. Do you want value, or are you excited about that particular game? I've been buying full priced indies, and yeah it sucks to see them bundled (a) year(s) after I own them, but they're fun and new and really, that happens with EVERYTHING. I bought a 40" flatscreen when they first came out for almost $1700, and now I just bought a 55" 3DTV last week for $999... Should I feel fucked up about that 6 year old TV, or boycott TVs? Nah, I'll watch Netflix & play more games.
Edit: Also, why just indies?? Sometimes AAAs end up in bundles, think about those that paid $60 for some of those Origin Bundle games.

I'm going to put this upfront that I admit I'm a cheapskate (money has been a problem to me this last few months, I can't go on a spontaneous shopping spree on steam anymore like I used to). Seeing that all the good indie titles would be bundled and purchasable for less than $5 after 1-2 years of their release really discouraged me. I was thinking about buying paper, please when it's on sale but I probably wait 'till 1 year from now and it's included in a bundle. Additionally, I had both Mask of the Ninja and Fez before this humble bundle and also both serious sam 2 and 3 before the serious bundle (I bought both of them on a 50% sale) so I feel like I could have saved lots of money...but then most of the money go to the developers which they deserve it.
Honestly I do not know it's a good or bad thing. I still put most the money towards the developers while buying the bundles (do not know abt other sites like bundlestars or groupee, I don't think they have that kind of option). What's your opinion on this? Are you buying less indie games than before humble bundle and other related sites?
