I know it's not a Steam deal, but I thought some people here might be interested; There is a company on ebay atm selling new MX518 gaming mice (via buy-it-now) for $30 each. The MX518 has been discontinued for years, but is considered one of the greatest gaming mice ever produced, and normally sells for $100+ these days. The great thing about them is that unlike modern mice, they don't have the double clicking issue (the one where single clicks are registered as a double clicks after about a year or two of use) which means they are built to last.

Since this is ebay, its hard to know if its the real deal or a knock off unfortunately, but it might be worth the risk to some.

Reading the reviews is very telling. A poor chinese knockoff copy of a great product?

Actually ebay reviews are per-product, not per-seller. And the ones below saying its a knock off are from a different seller.
There's really no way to know if this is the real deal.

Well that's a disappointing review system. It should be tracked per item type per seller.
That way you can easily distinguish knockoffs from originals, like Air Jordan 5s.

They were. When buttons on my X737 gave out after 4 years and 1k hours of CSGO, I went to buy a new one and discovered new line of Bloody mices. I quickly realized that the name is very telling, both for business model and product quality. I started to search for replacement for my 17 EUR mouse and the cheapest one I've found was 55 EUR Steelseries Rival 300. So yes, Oscar Gaming mices were great and could compete with much more expensive brands. Bloody's are not that great.
BTW I still have X7-G800V keyboard, bought it actually not for gaming it's designed for but because I write a lot and quickly. Again, that keyboard cost below 20 EUR and I wouldn't change it for anything less than some Cherry MX Black model - that's at least 60 EUR for Steelseries G6v2.

Yeah i just i mean .. i dont really follow models and stuff ... i bough one of their mouses like 6 years ago and lasted me about 4 years untill it had an argument with the wall cause ...reasons .

It was an okay mouse , nothing fancy ... literally 5$ and only special future was the Double Left click button .
So i just went and bough couple more of those ... Im still using the first one after couple years and havent had a single issue with it since .

Meanwhile my little brother got a fancy razer rainbow nonsense with 12 thousand buttons which literally just died after 7 months .

In general tho A4Tech is a budget brand , that has a quality Dirt cheap mouses , but they do have some High quality stuff which is still times cheaper compared to similar stuff from popular brands .

So you have similar experience as mine. I used A4Tech mice and keyboards since 2000. They were always best economic deal and quality was comparable to much more expensive Logitech. Somewhere around 2010 I started to move from their cheaper office range into gaming devices, because I got involved into competetive multiplayer and needed more precision and DPI range. I could easily keep up with my friends who bought Razers for a price four times of my A4Tech X7-747 and later X7-737 that suited my hand better. And my mouse endured quite a bit longer than Razers. It was when it finally broke when I discovered new gaming mice from A4Tech are nowhere as good as old ones. But from what I see in their budget and office range they still have plenty of those good old models. Their cheapest model, OP-620, with a price of 3 USD (2,8 EUR) is the same that I used from 2000 to 2007 and I never complained.
I think a fact that I had to pay three times more to replace my discontinued A4Tech X7-737 with something equally satisfying tells the whole story short.

If anyone orders one and receives it. Can they tell me on whether or not this was a knockoff or a legit one? I have a feeling these mice might stay on the store for a good while.

We ship it bulk packaged to save you on shipping. Bulk means this only includes the mouse, it does not come in the retail packaging, nor does it come with the software.

That tells me all I need to know.

The double click can happen to any mouse. Just that microswitch quality took a real dive a few years ago. That's what finally killed my MX 700 from the same era.

Sadly it happend to:

  • my 1st G700
  • my next G700s
  • my next next G700s
  • it's begin on my current G700s ;(

All of them new in box, I would love to find a mouse with the same number of buttons and the same form

I wore out a MX518 after ~12 years. The right microswitch finally gave out.

Anything like that eBay listing is a guaranteed counterfeit.

We had a special order, large quantity purchase on these for a medical facility and what is left is overstock from that project.

Because as we all know, medical facilities are in great need of gaming-grade PC peripherals.

The MX518 was such a great mouse, but 1800 DPI isn't enough, especially for me. I like to play on high DPI.

Take it from someone who never thought they'd find an adequate replacement once his MX518 died, the G400s is what you're looking for. I first developed my love for the MX line with the MX510 in 2003 I guess it was, playing UT2003. Later on, moving to the MX518 once I began to play UT2004 on a more serious, competitive level. My MX518 finally gave out sometime in... 2014 I think. I went through a couple mice trying to find an adequate replacement so that I wouldn't have to spend more and more on MX518 replacements as they became rarer. The G400s is what you're seeking, friend.

As someone who swore up and down by the MX518, thinking I was forever screwed when the one I bought to originally replace my MX510 gave out, I truly found an adequate replacement with the G400s. There was really no adjustment period at all. The only difference I think is that it's slightly lighter in weight.

i like the clicking feel of the g502 over the mx51x series, but not much the scroll button.
Overall i'm enjoying it as much as the older ones, and the extra two buttons in the left are well located and useful. I use them for tab switching and double clicking.

Good timing to peak my interest as my Roccat Kone XTD has started to get the doubleclick problem a few days ago....and does that about 80% of the time now.
Still won't buy the cheap counterfeit stuff from such a shady ebay listing though.

Yeah, not sure I will order off ebay for a mouse, but I am definitely in the market for a good durable gaming or work mouse. I overuse mine and currently having issues with it identifying it from my usb port, seems to just be the mouse. So I'm looking for a good durable one for traveling, that is good for gaming and work. I don't care how big or much it is :P

I had an MX518 and it was the best mouse ever but it did suffer from the double click issue after only a couple years. Then I used its subsequent replacements, the G400 followed by the G400s, which was fine because they were both identical to the MX518 in size and button layout. Now I'm using the current generation, the G402 Hyperion Fury, and it's a completely different design and is awful compared to the previous models. I've been using Logitech mice exclusively for the last 10 years but this might be the last one I use unless they bring back the old design.

But yea that deal seems shady. This one too which is selling for 3 bucks cheaper. The page says they've sold over 1300 of them. How did they acquire so many when the MX518 was discontinued 6 years ago?

Even today people are still trying to make money off a 12 year old mouse! Logitech is oblivious to what their customers want.

Looks exactly like these from Alibaba... probably fakes if I had to take a guess. They are selling for $19.95 each in bulk cases.
