hey guys, i wanted to play these VERY long time already, i was in the past a bit shocked how brutal this game is, well time flew by and i still think these games are pretty gory ;), well i like it in games lol.

Prototype 1 had made a nice foundation and i felt not really to be the hero, as Alex could kill civilians and consume them in brutal ways and get energy back, it didnt really matter in the end.
the ending was quite open and unsure, i dunno if i understood everything correct but Alex was a new character cause he lost his mind but he was the bad guy before? cause he released the virus? (why again?)
so i had mixed feelings about him but it was a nice difference to have a not real happy end and a character who is also not pure.
the sequel got me even more than interested!

so i played straight up PROTOTYPE 2 to the end just now, WOW, for me in nearly EVERY aspect the game improved gameplaywise, better gameplay, not too much chaos, you could battle with more variety, got a lot of action and other nice elements and it just was pure fun! also the graphics were a huge step up.
BUT!
storywise i found it VERY BAD, man.... they crashed Alex to some generic enemy then... even the end fight was not cool, it was so generic and he build ssuch an army and evolved so much and lost to Heller asap.... i really liked Heller too as a character but in the end it was just generic actions and they could have evolved Alex's character so much more. i mean i didnt like his look in the firsst title too, generic guy with a hoodie and looking dark. but still man......

oh and the events kinda remind me of Corona now, it is very frightening how you see the people with masks, the talk about infections, military etc......

overall, 2 great games, the 2nd gameplaywise and graphicwise even better! so sad the story got bad in the 2nd one and that a 3rd title is not believable!

I really liked how the story was uncovered in Prototype, but after replaying it again (previously I played it around 2010) I really ended up disliking the gameplay in its final story chapters. So much time spent on giving you powers, upping the ante by having tricky or superstrong enemies, then bombarding you with escort or "covert" missions - where if you blown your cover the military ended up stunlocking you with rockets. Story was still decent, but gameplay-wise they were out of fresh ideas by the end of the game.

About the story of Alex Mercer:
If I remember properly Alex was working for the "bad guy" Gentek, but because of how sensitive the research was and news leaks happened, Blackwatch decided to terminate the research group. Mercer had a vial of the virus with him, and as a last measure, released it at the station to cause as much harm (to Blackwatch? to the world?) as he could when he was shot dead. The virus basically consumed him and with that, his memories - Mercer died, but the Alex you play with is a "blob" of virus in the shape of Mercer, and it has his memories - believing that he is Mercer and somehow survived being killed.

thx so much for the story recap! yeah i think thats correct. ok then i did understand it :) (im not native english but play in english ;)!).
there was so much potential for the sequel......

and yes gameplaywise Prototype 1 had a lot of messy! sections, if you didnt play the sequel do it! in my opinion it is so much more refined gameplaywise. it kinda was also a bit easy on HARD..... easier than Prototype 1 on normal!

Not sure if you were aware of the existence of a prequel comic, but thought it might interest you. also not sure how easy or hard it is to come by online. I have it on some external hdd or something.

Your post made me think about playing the series again. Both games are currently installed on my PC. I liked the first part more, since it is more diverse in terms of gameplay. But as it seems to me, unlike the second one, it did not have a clear plot and purpose. in the second part, the player and character have a goal: to avenge their relatives by destroying all the enemies in their path. In the first part, Alex was also guided by revenge , but for himself, which completely eliminates empathy for the hero and makes the plot less addictive.

I played and finished both games !! at the time I found them both very repetitive !! I liked the 1 a little more, but it was a great martyrdom because of the numerous repetitive missions, for reachin the end of the game. and the story of the 2 game sucks !!

if you liked prototype, then I'd suggest to try saints row 4.
Gameplay wise it's very similar.
Also check out sunset overdrive also an over the top action game.

If you want a game that really remind you of Corona, play The division 2.

I really miss Infamouses. . .got nothing to play them on or with, if we exclude RPCS3. but then again, the team's making great strides, especially now with Vulkan being completely redone. Off-topic I know, sorry. . .just had to touch on that.
