I have not played the previous, I hope they create a HD remaster or remake of them!

Are there plans for the HD versions of Shenmue 1 & 2?
The property rights for Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 belong to SEGA, so we are not in a position to comment on that.

There's always hoping. Or at least there's always the option of emulation.

I do not really like emulation, but I guess it is better than nothing!

I really don't advocate using emulators and/or ROMs, but if a company isn't willing to sell a product, I find it hard to morally object to downloading it.

Honestly, if they're not willing to take a person's money, what are they supposed to do with it? Ritualistically set fire to it?

I wasn't suggesting pirating the game; to my knowledge Dreamcast discs can be easily read by PCs, so it's definitely possible to emulate original copies.

That's cool! I'd never heard that. Not that I've ever had a reason to play a Dreamcat game.

How many years have passed since I played through Shenmue 1 and 2, and when I saw it this morning I shed a virtual tear. I wanted this game more than any Final Fantasy / Half Life remake and looks like we'll get it. I trust Yu Suzuki and I think he's going to make a worthy sequel.

Amen to that ... an absolutely great thing that FF7 is going to get a Remake (quite certain to be released later on for PC as well)
but a Shenmue 3 - indeed, been waiting since i watched my Bro play it through on Dreamcast back then (played it also myself).

I play it every year around Christmas for a bit, it became a tradition for me. Now all I need is a Silent Hill 2 remake or Silent Hill 1-3 collection on steam, since my old CDs are all scratched and I can die happily. What a good time to be a gamer and alive. ^^

Yup most definitely one great year of games and announcements ... got myself Dead or Alive 5 Last Round this year
one of the few games i'd really wanted to play PC (online at least - which will be patched this month).
Also got my Shenmue Revenge 2 months ago lol: http://steamcommunity.com/id/horusdecem/screenshots/

The Last Guardian - check
Final Fantasy VII Remake - check
Shenmue 3 - check

All rumour were confirmed, what an amazing night gamers had. It was amazing to see that after one hour Shenmue 3 already had one million and now already is with the 2 that needed, can't imagine where this will stop.

The only things most people know about Shenmue is something to do with sailors and a forklift.

I must be one of the odd few, but goddamn, I didn't like the first game. That, and those screens... they don't look very good, or is it just me? Something about them just screams "late PS2 era", and not in a good way.

Regardless of what the title is, it certainly got the push in advertising to become a successful kickstarter. Not meaning that Shenmue isn't worth it, because it certainly is.

I'm just glad larger companies(or even shunned dev teams from such) needing funds for certain projects may take notice in the strength of crowd funding to help support a game or series growth.

So they can keep more money instead of investing in game development? I support kickstarter for small indie games, but why is SE pushing this instead of helping the guy make his videogame?

Huge fan of Shenmue, played Shenmue 2 first since it was on my brother's Xbox, then I managed to borrow a Dreamcast and a copy of the first...
Obviously I backed the project.

Worth it, can't remember how many times i played both Shenmue Titles on Dreamcast ...
of all consoles i had, that was about the most memorable one (also the first one with a few good online Games).

Collecting all capsule toys or just playing the mini-games in the arcades or fighting and
other side-quests sure kept one entertained and busy for a while. :-)

I played them only once, I wouldn't mind play them again if they release a new version...I wonder how I will be able to import my savegame in the third game :P

Once is enough with all that overwhelming good stuff ...only back then with no pc-interwebs
and console-"magic" it certainly wasn't. Good old times of blissful ignorance and less choices. :-D

Why Square Enix doesn't help the guy create the game? Why they only introduced to the guy ask for money?

Was likely estimated not to bring the desired monies for the investment/development ... doubt that other than
people who already know Shenmue (played it on Dreamcast or maybe just maybe on Xbox)
will care much about it - but those who did, are likely to be passionate about it.

Absolutely ... if more people knew about it, this would be some kind of "Duke Nukem Forever Title"
except waiting for other circumstances and that its good (lol), and people still wished for it until this very day.

Dear God, what if it will be possible that we will actually witness Shenmue XVI just as we were promised years ago :O? If 3 will be big funded I'm sure Sega won't sit still, so HD remakes are a matter of time.

Passing on it might do ... many years have past and lots of great titles out there - even so one might enjoy playing the first and second Shenmue title. Only viewing the "cutscenes" is likely not to leave you "very attached", despite there being some Shenmue Story Compilations (and other videos of what you can do in the game).

Classic Game Room - SHENMUE review for Sega Dreamcast
^ If you skip through some ytb video and you like what you see - then its sure worth keeping an eye on it.
+Shenmue 3 is very likely to have a summary of sorts, in order to not just throw you into the game.

A Dreamcast in 2015 is kinda unnecessary gaming hardware anyway, unless as for "collecting - keepsake" purposes
(While i haven't checked on Emulators for a long time, there might be some already that would run them halfway good).
