How many of you are fathers (or have fathers) and still play video games?
My dad is the main reason why I got into gaming, especially as young as I did (started with him helping me play Super Mario 64 when I was 4). It wasn't until I was like 10 that I found other kids (besides my brothers) who played games as well.
His favourite games were the Gears of War games, Turok, Pikmin, Super Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, etc. etc. We played a lot of N64/gamecube/xbox 360 games together, but he also loved to watch my brothers and I play (backseat gaming haha).

My Dad doesn't play video games, never really did and always was against the fact that I spent time on the computer. Buuuut eventually he figured out I wouldn't stop just because he wanted me to. I was pretty persistent I guess, heh. :P

My dad plays games, yes. He used to do it more when I was young, I mean he's the reason why we got a N64, Playstation etc.. But my brother and me spent more time playing on them than he did (of course because he was working while we were playing).
Now he's only playing when the family meets up, then we play stuff like Mario Party, Tetris, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros etc. on my brothers Wii U. He's not gaming on PC though and if anything, we sometimes try to beat our scores in mobile games like Flappy Bird, Bejeweled etc. but that's about it.

My dad doesn't play games, but he did encourage and support my use of computers early on with machines like the Magnavox Odyssey2 and the Apple IIe. As a result, I grew up absolutely loving video games of all types. Now that I have kids of my own, I share my passion with them and try to do so by teaching them to play a wide variety of video games in a constructive and responsible manner... hopefully having learned something from my mistakes along the way to help them fully enjoy games while still being mindful of the potential for negative consequences if not being careful.
Especially in this day and age where games are often designed to prey on addictive traits in human psychology, I find it very important to give my young kids practical experience dealing with these kinds of things and finding ways to make sure they are the ones playing the games, and not allowing the game to be the one playing them.

So first thing's first; Happy Father's Day! We thank you dad's for being awesome! Second, I was just wondering who out there is a dad that is a gamer? My dad doesn't game, but I know a couple of friends who's dad's play games with them. So I included a poll of if you or your dad plays video games. After that, please comment what you or your dad's favorite game is. Thanks, and Happy Father's Day! :D
