WIll you accept chalenge?
How about actually old games? Like, released at least before 2000?

yeah, this is like calling a 10 year old kid an "old" person, now, calling a 20+ years old like that is not that weird

You are completely right, ironically enough you are all on different things. This is partly what I was trying to point to as you, seemingly out of the blue, are claiming that the discussion is about gamers. The discussion is about games, people are used as an analogy and comes with the usual limitations of analogies.
There's a point to VeniVidiVicis argument but I'm inclined to agree with yaxshi on the counter argument. That said I'm not sure I would classify a 10-year-old game as an old game anyway.

I don't think I own a single game release before 2000... ^^

So you at least started Dragon Age: Origins, right? How did you not want to play it through to completion? Was it the Deep Road segment, is that what wore you out?
And I will accept your challenge. Bayonetta, I chose you!
Of course, she'll have to wait because I'm going to be busy with a beta-test for the next month - gotta polish it up and find those bugs before release. But once that's done, Bayonetta's first on my list.

Oh, that's got to be tough. I can just imagine you playing The Walking Dead:
Dale's going to remember that? What? Oh no!
Oh, I have to rescue someone, but I don't have time to save them both? Who do I pick? Who do I pick? I can't decide!!!

Best game ever man, you will master it soon and even pump up the difficulty on new runs.
There are a lot of mods for it too. If you plan to play the whole franchise I recommend you to go to https://dragonagekeep.com/en_US/. The official website for the game, there you can record your choices after every playthrough and they will supposedly export into Dragon Age Inquisition. Be careful tho, the site contains spoilers if you do not finish the whole game.

RIP indeed, can't wait for their next great live service, Dragon Age 4 with heavy social commentary that doesn't break the fourth wall at all.

Yeah... I'm a very thorough player, such that I like to explore everything, see everything, pick up everything, etc, and the Deep Roads really wore me down. They were so long, just combat after combat with little else of interest. I got tired and just started rushing through them as fast as I could because I just wanted to be done with them.

I stopped playing DA as well years ago. Work as always got in the way and then when I was gaming, it was with friends in CoD:WaW then so didn’t really go back to DA.

Similar thing happened to me with Fallout 3. Something caused me to stop playing the game half way through, and I forgot about it for months. I went back to it later and had a lot of fun, wondering why I ever stopped playing in the first place. And Dragon Age: Origins is a much better than than Fallout 3. ;)
You should go back to it and finish it up, if you can. The very beginning of Origins is my favorite part, but the ending is really good too.

Alpha Protocol is nice. Not special or anything, but an enjoyable experience.

Alpha Protocol was fucking amazing (and buggy/weird)
I played it imagining that my character is Archer from the cartoon series - it goes super well with the weird and often silly dialogue options, over the top action and the "stealth" takedowns :D

Done, few weeks ago I finished a game started decades: Another World. Game was released in 1991.

But... Skyrim is a brand new game. It just came out last year for the 3rd time

I play old games all the time and enjoy them a lot. I am currently playing Prey from 2006 and Jack Orlando from 1997.
I will be playing more old games than usual because my GPU recently died and I am stuck using an old HD 4850 until I can get a new one and I don't know when that will be with the current GPU market.

+1
If it supports 16:9 widescreen resolutions it's not old. :P

It can read your library, and it's possible to order the games by release date (the one featured on Steam, though)
Eventually I'll surely play something older because I missed out a lot of good games, but right now I can't promise anything, I have a few games picked to play and I'm pretty short on free time right now.

I'm not trying to dismiss this idea but I've always found it a bit weird how popular these kinds challenges seem to be. It's like people actually need extra incentive to do things they are supposedly already doing purely for enjoyment.
I seem to be playing mostly older games out of preference though

Obsessing over games one will never have time to play just seems oddly counterproductive to the purpose of playing games, to me. One might argue we should only buy games if absolutely sure we'll have time to play them but that's something else.
Edit: I understand it's a social thing though and my somewhat asocial tendencies make me less likely to find these things alluring.

Ah, sounds a bit harsh. I like to think that I'm just capricious but I wouldn't bet on not getting diagnosed with something if tested. I tend to spend loads of time playing whatever I get into but I rarely ever actually "finish" a game. For me it more like the journey is the goal, so to speak.

Me with many good games

The only true way to reduce the pile is to put a kibosh on your own buying of games. Especially if you're a bundle junkie, it doesn't matter how often and effectively you play and stick with the same games, you're going to have far more than you can ever complete. And Steam will fuel the game buying addiction too.

I initially started in the Sarranid Sultanate, but made up my mind later and currently work for the Kingdom of Swadia too. I probably should swear fealty, considering that I own enterprises in all cities now. Next step: Own more than just some facilities!

If you find a way to play it please let me know as i have some troubles with it. The game is broken if you dont cap the fps and even if you cap them at 60 with rivertuna there will be some really annoying fps drops.

Try SilentPatch. It fixes quite a lot of things, and makes the game perform slightly better with 30+ FPS. However, even if you have this mod installed, the game may still behave weirdly on 30+ FPS, so it is advised to turn on the frame limiter in game's settings (which caps FPS to 30).

Update: I've achieved 100% completion! Completing this game took me around 29 hours. I'm really proud of this achievement, since GTA III is probably the hardest game in the series (curse you, off-road challenges!).

Pre 2010? I guess I could get around to play Tomb Raider Legends, Resident Evil 5 or Fahrenheit... or I could finally give a try to the Half-Life series. Challenge accepted, as long as you give me a few months :P (I restarted college and it's sucking me dry of free time).

True challenge would be starting with Tomb Raider which despite the Steam release date shown actually goes back to the late 90s, then playing through the whole franchise in order.
But me personally, I've had trouble getting the original Tomb Raider game to run in fullscreen (or something bigger with black bars at least would be nice, as long as I can't see any of my desktop and don't have a super tiny game screen to look at) and bought the original trilogy on Gog to see if that works better. Anyone have tips?

I did end up playing through Tomb Raider Legend and Lara Croft GO in short succession so I kinda got enough of the series for last year, I did get the craving for more tomb raiding this weekend and somehow ended up playing one of the weird obscure ones, the J2ME version of TR Underworld (a weird 3d but on-rails interpretation of the game) through an emulator.
I guess I could go for the real deal and play the original after I'm done with that, although I would preffer it if it was in fullscreen, I bet someone at some point figured out something, to google!
BTW, I've played all TR games out of order so far: TR (2013) -> TR Anniversary -> TR Underworld -> Lara Croft GO -> TR Legend, just thought it was kinda funny :P

I got a PS4 earlier this week, so I'm unlikely to touch anything else for a while. I do have a few old arcade games (Dig Dug, Galaga, Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man) for the system, but doubt any of those have an end as such.

I was never really a fan of the series. Tried several on PS2, PSP and 3DS. Sorry.
And don't really use Discord. Sorry again.

I've had someone on GameFAQs that wanted me to get it as well so he could play with me. :P
And one more reason I'd avoid the game, I refuse to pay for Plus. Those games are really made for playing with others. Not enough of a fan of multiplayer to keep paying for it, and I hardly need the Plus rentals, I already own close to 200 games for the system. Even if a large chunk were cross buy from PS3 / Vita purchases.
Also, since I missed it earlier, Happy Cake Day.

Every year I write list of things that I need to accomplish in this year. Seeing how my steam library is growing I challenged myself to complete at least 15 games that I bought/got before this year. And there is a lot of uncompleted gems in my library.
For example: I finished Mass Effect 2 in February.
Now I'm playing Dark messiah of Might and magic, which was released 12 years ago...
And I never finished Dragon age: origins, Amnesia, Syberia 2 and never tried Braid...
TL:DR
Clear that backlog of old games
