I don't know any "CSFFlame" moderator here in Steamgfits because he's the moderator in /r/pcgaming. You can't even proofread your post in each community site you post on. Meaning you don't really care at all on each of the subreddit/site you post on.

There's a reason why your giveaways don't fly anymore in /r/pcmassterrace, your spamming your giveaways disguised as publicity on your DimmDrive software.

Also rofl wow, I've been blacklisted by him for just replying why this guy got kicked out in /r/PCmasterrace Fucking pathetic. If you were not shady at all, you wouldn't do that and you'll try to correct/enlighten me.

I'm confused. Besides getting suspended here (lulz) and possibly spamming Reddit what did he actually do that is wrong regarding his giveaway? Vendors are dropping their games here all the time which is free advertising to them. Game bundlers drop 50-100x games from their bundles to advertise in the sponsored section a lot. Unless you're implying he's not honoring the raffles..

It's slightly different. Say I was the creator of gala giveaways or playblink, and I created like 40 giveaways on my site. I then make an account here, and advertise free games, but you need to go to my site for a chance to win. This is redirecting traffic to my website, which has advertising, and thus I make money (somewhat like referral links, which are banned).

If I make giveaways on SG and put a little note in the description to check out my cool website, but it isn't a requirement to do so, is different. You're using SG as intended-to give away games. TimDimmDrive has given away his product using SG, and as far as I know the problems he cited ("spam entries, bots, alt/fake accounts, selfish people downvoting others") are very minimal. Therefore, I can only conclude at the very he's doing this to harvest emails, profit, etc.

Also, the fact that he's doing this as self-promotion leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's one thing if I found his website, and was like, "woah this is a cool website!". He is blatantly advertising. I could I guess make a blog, and then hold a raffle to visitors of my blog, and so could all of the other users of this website. What would the discussion section turn into? A bunch of links leading to external websites, probably spammed a lot. End result: the quality of the forum goes down.

He also blatantly copy pasted his post on reddit, so he's putting minimal effort into a submission...

Edit: He's also the dev, so the fact that he is entering giveaways using CV from his product calls to mind this thread.

Valid points. Thanks for taking the time to write all that out. The first part is what I'm having issue with. You're basically saying everything would be alright if he made a bunch of 10 cent game giveaways and posted his raffle link in the description. If you noticed his raffle from randomly searching the Internet and posted it in the Deals section of the forum would that be any different than him doing it himself? The bundlers did that in the beginning but now enough people know enough about their sites that the userbase advertises their bundles for them. Even recently with the WGN Groupees bundle they threw a ton of sponsored games up and advertised the bundle. You had to give your contact info to order the bundle if you wanted it, otherwise you closed the tab and forgot about it which is the same thing you can do with his raffle. His mistake this time was just posting in the forum. Obviously it ruins the spirit of the site but a lot of giveaways wouldn't exist if they couldn't plug something.

I guess I am, fine with that because there's a cost to him (albeit very minor) into making those giveaways. Theoretically it should be self-limiting then, but there's nothing stopping him from posting endlessly in the discussions. Also creating giveaways fulfills the main purpose of this site, which is to give away games using the site (the home page is the list of giveaways, other giveaway sites are not linked).

It would be fine if someone else posted his website in the forum because it would be somewhat..curated or selected by the OP who doesn't have a vested interest.

Fair enough. I was just shocked people were so harsh towards him personally but not toward others. If I ever got around to finishing a game and publishing it this would've been one of the places I'd drop copies at hoping to generate interest. Just had me concerned it was something people saw negatively now that's all.

Yeah, I think it's a fine line that is difficult to tell when it has been crossed. I would like to see a mod endorse the thread (the mod referenced is a reddit mod..) and then I would be 100% ok with it.
